"Live From" VMP D1 LODRS 2023
 

Hey guys,

We made it here to Virginia Motorsports Park on Wednesday. The final D1 LODRS race of the season. Weather is supposed to be nice. partly sunny with temps in the low 70's. We did run into a few muppets on the this trip, but it was a good trip for most of the way.

I will be back later with a ride through pits along with some photos. There is a test and tune today from 12 to 6. There is a slight chance of rain tonight, but it should not be an issue for the test and tune.

Hey guys, we just got the last call for testing... a good day if you needed a lot of track time. Mostly cloudy, but no rain. Photos from the pits and a few action shots from todays testing.

Hi gang - Today was reserved for test n tune only -started at 12 and will end in a half hour .I must say the track was killer - I hooked hard everytime .

Weather mid-day - temp 75 ,60 % humidity,29.91 barometer ,DA -1856.

Entries today were light - we'll see what tomorrow brings - plenty of great pit space left .

If anyone needs some VP C12 I have three extra pails with me .$95 each or 3 for $270.

Good morning - Welcome to day 1 at VMP .Rigs are rolling in at this minute but still plenty of pit space .It's 7:50 as I type this and it's almost dark out - not a good sign at all - it's not raining or misting and doesn't feel bad - just kinda weird out .We are to start at 8:30 I thought but no one is out parading ..........we'll see .Later ...it's time for pancakes ! !

Good morning folks, its cloudy this morning but no rain is in the forecast. Start time is 8:30, with Super Street out first followed by Stock. I will post weather numbers below. We get two qualifiers today and for late arrivals there will be a clean up. Also, they are running a top 8 for SST, STK, SS, SC, and SG. later today.

Super Street has just been called to the lanes. We were supposed to start at 8:30 but there was a slight mist in the air, and the track surface was not to the liking of track crew. They have been working on the track for 2 hours and it looks like we will be racing soon. Its still cloudy out and the weather numbers have not changed much, temp is up 3 to 66.

Super Stock Q1. We have some down time as of 2:35... Vincent Nobile in his Top Dragster had and engine expired going through the traps, lots of smoke, and then a hard hit into the wall. He was out of the car quickly and is okay.

Correction, I was talking to a few racers that were at the top end. Vincent said he pull the chute and the dragster took a hard left into the wall. The smoke was from the tires, something locked up in the rear, you could see heavy skid marks.

Good morning everyone. Jr Dragsters will be out first followed by Super Street then Stock. Its a cloudy day with temps in the mid 60's. It might be a little quicker today as there is a lot less moisture in the air. Weather numbers below. We get one more qualifier then we go into round 1.

If I was running there I'd have a radio in the car so I could hear the announcer...he's announcing the reaction times as they leave the starting line!! Good info to have as your making your run!!

Guessing someone will say something? LOL

Maybe I watch to close. Also maybe I'm wrong too. First round with McNeil Freeman. What is the time again between one stagging and then the other. I thought it was 8 seconds. Seems way longer than 8 seconds to me.

Hey guys, we are on hold... Lee Ream in his D/DA hit the wall going through the traps. The back end came around and he went hard right hitting the wall. Driver got out on his own and looks to be okay.

We are done for the day except for the Alcohol final, Top Sportsman rd 1 and the rest of Comp rd 1. Stock got 2 rounds in, all other classes got 1 round in except SST. We do it all again tomorrow starting at 10AM with Super Street followed by Stock.

I don't know if they just didn't have someone scheduled or that person didn't show for the weekend but, for the most part the guys you heard on the mic were Tyler Crossnoe the GM of VMP and the retired DD Dave Mohn. Tyler Crossnoe was probably in the works of doing track prep and the duties of the GM of a track (Announcing is not normally one of the jobs) so yes did it suck not having someone announcing every run down the track but, we should at least thank Tyler and Dave for jumping up to the plate to give us some info, being on the mic is sometimes a scary thing...I've done it a few times at my events when the announcer goes to the bathroom or takes lunch and it can be a scary thing tryig to get names right, describing MOV and trying to keep people awake and not bore them to death.

The only positive thing to add to this is: It’s Free !!!

Sure it stinks not having an announcer.
If we had the one screen that shows the increments that would help tremendously
but that’s not even there. At least we’re not paying for this.

Good morning folks, and the sun has finally shown its face. After 3 days of racing with cloudy weather we get to see the sun. Temps will be in the upper 70's for today, with sun all day. I will post current weather numbers below for anyone that is interested.

Super Street will be out first starting at 10AM for round 1, followed by Stock 3 round.

Bob's car made a very hard turn toward the centerline and came very close to the centerline. I heard a rumor that he passed the scales and was dq'd. He may not have known that his opponent red lit

In the Weber-Null matchup Null passed the scales thinking they were closed and was DQ'ed.
