Think after this year, we should all be thankful 2024 schedules being done. Keep in mind how many tracks said 2023 was the last ones.

With tracks shutting down, Odessa Missouri built a new track, Flying H Dragway. Will have the National event in 2024, and I hope it will host the Div 5 double pts race. My home town.

Maybe earlier in the year when it's not 110 in the shade.

I'm just hoping there's more than ONE Divisional in California next year, Pete. In-N-Out just had their huge Corporate Birthday event at Pomona and drag racing was apart of it too. It'd be nice to see a non Alcohol Divisional there.

SGMP has a new owner. Hopefully they will Continue the tradition of having a divisional race there. Other than that D2 should be mostly the same.

With Atco gone, there is a National Open and Division race in D1 that needs a home. Seems like a double may not be a bad idea. Would just be a matter of when. An open at Cecil County in either the fall or early spring would be a great opportunity for record setting.

I heard from a few people this weekend at the Dutch that VMP is looking to be one of the TBA Nationals which I think would fall the June 21-23 date the weekend before Norwalk based on travel.

Tracks have to make money on the Open events, I can say MG didn't do well on the Dutch this weekend, I heard a total of 249 cars. I really blame poor scheduling & weather predictions (which were mostly wrong) for that, you had D2 Rockingham, D3 Indy Open & PDRA at VMP all this weekend, only so far the pie can be split. That's why we finished on Saturday, so we didn't have to open on Sunday.

I mean it's all rumors until the concrete schedule comes out but, I heard the Atco races won't be replaced from a few sources this weekend. Does that mean 6 races or a double somewhere, it's all a wait and see basis right now.

Div 5 lost Denver and it sounds like Great Bend for another year. Brainerd needs to get back on the schedule and Rock Falls proved they could hold another race. Not much hope for the western side of the Division that I see. I have attended the double at Yellowstone in Division 6 which I have heard will be earlier in the season, a good alternative for some.

D1 has enough opens already! I think we can do without this one and encourage everyone to support the 7 LODRS races we have! Hopefully Kyle keeps the second LODRS at Maple Grove. If not, have a double at either Virginia or Epping, since they are at extreme ends of the division.

Why not do doubles at most points races. Wouldn't this benefit tracks and racers ?

⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ Agreed. Wish every race was a double

Re: 2024 schedule sneak peaks or rumours ?

I may be in the minority here, but as a self employed family man the double points races are really hard to do. Especially the ones that have started on Wednesdays. I know how much it makes sense for travel expenses and all the other pro's for the doubles.....but it's hard to take that much time off 4-5 times a year.

Re: 2024 schedule sneak peaks or rumours ?

Doubles look great on paper for the track, competitors, and those needing couple good events for points. Willing to bet the staffing side becomes the challenge for Divisions and the Tracks.

Sometimes making 2 trips is less than the amount of money lost for the Blue-Collar competitors that still exist among all of us.

Re: 2024 schedule sneak peaks or rumours ?

I 100 percent agree with Ben on this. Doubles just don't work if you have a real job and or a family. St. Louis was an absolute marathon and honestly just not that much fun. It would be impossible for most to leave on a Tuesday several times a year to just attend points meets. I heard a rumor that D3 plans to have several doubles next year. If that is the case we will look at other options.

Re: 2024 schedule sneak peaks or rumours ?

I really wish D1 would have points races back to back with the National Events in Epping and Virginia. That would save a lot of travel for those who religiously attend both races at each track. If not, have a double points race on the weekends they are scheduled. In 2020 when Virginia hosted a double, we had the highest car count of the year, besides Maple Grove, which is always our most attended race

2024 will be my first year running LODRS. When does the LODRS schedule and the national open schedule usually get posted?

From what I was told all schedules have to be submitted at Vegas this weekend and the LODRS schedules are normally announced the week of Pomona. The open schedules are normally a few weeks later. I know Norwalk has already announced their LODRS Date.

I've heard that the track is coming along nicely, but may not be ready to host a national event in 2024.
