Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
I understand that this race for stock and super stock is a 32 car field each, no qualifying sheet, chip draw and no possibilty for a heads up. Any accurate information out there to verify or refute this? Seems to be a high dollar bracket race which causes me to wonder why stock and super stock.

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
So you’d rather race for $1000 with all the “class” parameters??? I’d race backwards for 30K!

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
Before the rest of you jump on this, the question was neutral. I wasn't asking what you would or would not do, i was asking if all the rumors I heard were valid and could anyone verify or refute.

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
I’ve heard that what you mentioned is the way the race will be. Of course nothing is official until the details are released.

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
I say let them get the race run for this year in the format they plan to run it. I hope it's real successful. And they will want to do more. Any tweaking can get done at the next one. Like to see whoever is in charge of promoting this race start to really get doing it publicly. It will be here before we know it. And I'm sure there are other sponsors that would love to get involved if they have enough time too and notice to whom to get in touch with. Can't wait to see the list of the sportsman drivers. Surprised it's not out.
That had to be a tough job to come up with the criteria to include what drivers that will be invited. I'd like to sign up now for the live feed but want to make sure they do a good job on the sportsman side of the show. In my opinion a race like this has been long overdue. It's nice to show other Sanctioning bodies they too could give a big burst of money to the Pros and the Sportsman categories If you can have million-dollar bracket shows, for several years I have to ask how come this took so long. A big thank you to all that have lead the way, and to any Sponsor for getting involved. BP |
Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
Please, PLEASE don't jump all over me...it's " invite only" correct?
Which means what, they don't have to pay for their spot in the field? Will there be an entry fee? What will it be? Haven't seen this mentioned. Thanks, Dan |

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
Hats off to Bo & Co. Thank you.
Race sounds great for those invited and accept. Good luck to all those participating. ***If you were not invited, no need to comment. If you were invited and are declining to go...again, no need to comment. NOTE: If you haven't been invited or contacted, you probably wont be... We should just be happy that there are people out there willing to put their time, effort and money into having races for stock and super stock competitors. Bo's race, Bo's rules. You don't like the rules, platform, or any other processes that are involved...than make your own race, rules and see how it goes! |
Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
Well, the post once again is getting amusing. Frankly, i am confused (no side comments regarding my state of mind).
Why build a "class" car - and not have a hope of winning a class heads up? Who cares about someone going fast at this race? Doesn't count and no validation. Reminder that we have joined a heads up class. I get the enviroment that we're in. Because of rule changes, additional classes (by NHRA and racers pushing their own agenda and need for protection from fast cars in their class), diminishing car counts etc which all lead to reduced opportunities and degredation for heads up. Why help it along? No qualifying? No chance to land a heads up? How about we eliminate 1/2 of all NHRA stock and ss classes and .5 difference in weight breaks where possible. Comp is different isnt it? Fast guy wins. Maybe SS and Stock should go back to running off of national records? I don't know. Maybe it's time to start a new class and call it something like ss b(for brackets - no heads up)? Gaf - of all people who supports class racing - need i remind you how hyped up you get over class. I'm going to need to talk to the boss and see if we should continue supporting Top Qualifier in D2. From reading the board i get the feeling like "who cares". Volkman 412.651.2356 |
Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
Make Class racing great again proposal. fastest 4 Cars for each class, say A thru D stock, 4 from A thru D stock automatic 4 cars from A thru D super stock and 4 cars from A thru D automatic super stock. 32 cars total. Each class races off heads up until you get to 8 cars left, then handicapped off class index (alternate handicap based on fastest run in each class)
I would love to see 24 heads up races (16 1st round 8 second round) with the fastest invite cars. |
Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
I sure hope I get invited!

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
I’ve checked my mail box everyday and no invitation but my fingers are crossed. It will be a race worth watching. The best result of the race will be its success.

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
Guys, if YOU get the invite, YOU can say NO THANKS.....
(Mike, those number 1 qualifying hats are very much appreciated here. Thanks!) |
Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
We can forever debate which rules and who gets invited. It has made for good podcast content the last couple weeks. Whoever gets invited, loosen those front ends and give 'em a show! I'll be there with a camera and a mic so don't be shy.

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
It's a good thing Dave Ley didn't listen to some of the opinions here as he put on the largest, most successful and longest tenured S/SS series in the country with "no qualifying sheet, chip draw and no possibility for a heads up."

Wow this must be the best kept secret in drag racing! Maybe NHRA is going to do a big announcement on the entry list! Kinda like the Leah and Tony story!!! Can’t find the invites anywhere, as of now I only know of 2 people invited….the suspense is just killing me

I have seen a few of who will be there. It’s been a hush deal and I don’t think a list was ever distributed. All hitters for sure.

Re: Clarification Needed - Pro Invitation Race in Florida
You guys need to realize something. This in NOT an NHRA race AND I am sure the suits in Glendora are not real HAPPY that the PRO’s AND sportsman are running for $$ that makes the NHRA purse look like pocket change. :):)
