Looking for old MODIFIED PRODUCTION CORVETTE

We are looking for an old 1958 to 1967 Modified Production Corvette. Our goal is to have the car remain as it looked back in the Modified Production Days but just put good pieces in the drivetrain so we aren't blowing it to pieces every time we take it out to the track to detox from our work and race life. If you have had one passed down to you and would like to have it back on the racetrack in memory of your dad, brother, or uncle, give me a call. If you are one of the old guys (that we are lucky enough to still have with us that raced one back in the day) and have it covered up with piles of junk on it and would like to see it go down the track again to relive those high-revving GLORY DAYS, call me.

Is there any interest in resurrecting the Datsun that “the boys” cut their teeth on at the old Eastex dragway. :)

Our Dad bought a total of 3 of them. 1977 Datsun 810 wagon with inline 6 cylinder engine. Ran 19 seconds in the 1/4. The original one was orange and our Mom drove us to middle school in that one.

Unfortunately, those cars are long gone. I wish we would have at least kept one of them. How cool would that have been!

Yes, the specific one we are looking for on the FB post "Modified Eliminator - Gone, but not forgotten" page did belong to Joe. I know you remember those days!

If we cannot locate that specific car, we are still wanting to buy a car from that era.

It would be cool to see the old WOP SHOP resurrected? What about the sister cars of Tommy Costales’s 1984 SG Champ or David Hubbard’s end up?

Awesome idea, can’t wait to see how this comes together.
Whatever you find just make sure it has the proper number of working pedals under the dash for an old modified production car….
None of that launching the car with your finger and holding on BS!

Brad Z- I can PROMISE you the car will have a small cubic inch motor, big flywheel, and 3 pedals under the dash!

So, Gary you're going to let Brad talk you into putting a 4 or 5 speed automatic in it. Today the clutch pedal is just a big two step button. LOL BP
Can't wait to see whatever you end up with. I'm sure it will be sweet..

If anybody would know of one it would be Doug or Lynn, if they don't already own it.

My all time favorite C-2 modified Vette belonged to Jimmy Faul out of Div 4, super clean and nice. Jerry Coley had it for a while {borrowed} and ran it over here some back in the day. I have to wonder where its at.

I do not know what happened to David's car, but the 1984 Super Gas World Champion car of Tommy Costales has been restored, beautifully painted by Roy Pigford, and is being raced by his son, Jay Costales, in Super Street. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Re: Looking for old MODIFIED PRODUCTION CORVETTE

Rest assured, the two Joe Smith-built Corvettes of David Hubbard and Tommy Costales are in good hands. As for the former Reher-Morrison/Tony Christian Corvette, that car is a bit of a mystery. I happened to see a picture of it years ago and it was somewhat re-done and beautiful. I believe the guy bracket races it and doesn't wish to be disturbed in talking about it. Lot of history with that car. Like many others on this site, What happened to ALL these Corvettes that were built?? Divisions 1,2, 3 and 4 were littered with them both from NHRA and IHRA, I would imagine most were restored back to original for the monetary value. I for one am excited in that the BIG WHEEL has slowly rotated back and we are seeing these cars resurrected for the Nostalgia races, including yours truly!!

Ed had a 62, it was maroon, ran E/MP back in the day, and maybe SS/EM later. Beautiful car, and fast.
