Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
There will be a Test & Tune ran by the track on Friday; however the Thursday T&T is free and only for STK/SS Competitors.
The Saturday and Sunday races are the only races that will give you grade points. The Friday race is a bonus race to attract more competitors. |

ATTENTION RACERS...There has been a slight change in schedule for the TRIPLE 5K Race. Due to the amount of races being postponed/prolonged this season, we believe it would be more advantageous to make the FRIDAY & SATURDAY 5K Races count towards the National Open and the Sunday Race be the bonus 5K race and/or a potential "rain day" for one of the double National Open races, just incase mother nature wants to interfere. This way we can almost guarantee your two grade point races and points towards the Canadian National Open Series. We are obviously hopeful for a weekend of sun and fun; however we do want racers to get the most for their trip to our race. Hope to see you all there. Please reach out to me at keving@gafftech.ca and/or 613.229.9582 should you have any questions. Safe travels. Tnx |
Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
Less than 3 weeks until the race! If anyone has a preference for pit spots, please text or call me. There is parking(on asphalt in the drift track and behind the concession building) or pit side parking in the grass areas. Please don't hesitate to ask, we really want to ensure everyone is well pitted. See you all there, safe travels. Tnx

Biggest crowd ever for a National Open series event on Saturday.
Parkings were full everywhere on fields around the site and even on the second (1/8 mile) track alongside the quarter mile. Q sheets came from Alan Harper on the ACSSSA facebook site. Here are the Q sheet from Friday Q2 and from Saturday Q1 |
Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
2 new national records:
-1 for Guy Desjardins from "The French Connection gang" with his SS/EA 1967 Camaro. -1 for Venice Perno with his SS/CS 2010 Mustang. I don't have here a really good information regarding E.T. and MPH to add at this time. Maybe somebody can help here. |

Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
I just wanted to take the time and thank all the racers who came out this weekend. Thank you to the Glenn Grow and the NHRA staff for their hard work and especially the Brunet family & Co. for what can only be described as one of the best National Opens ever. What an incredible event. 4 days of unbelievable weather, track surface was incredible, everyone was able to get the pit spots they desired and great racing was had by all. We did have 2 long stoppages today do to breakage, but still able to pull off the program. Congratulations to all the winners and runner ups.
Saturday's race was the biggest race ever for Napierville Dragway. With over 250 cars, 60 stk/ss competitors, Pro Mods, Dan Mercier's Top Fuel Dragster making two great passes and almost 5000 fans, the place was packed! I have never seen an Open or Division race with that many people. Our new DD was also in attendance and I know he was happy to see how strong and well supported our National Opens are North of the border! I hope everyone had a good time, made it home safe and if there is anything we can do to improve the race for next year, please feel free to reach out to Glenn Grow or myself. We want to keep growing this race. Tnx |
Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
I must salute the Brunet family and staff, Glen Grow, the NHRA staff and specially the Gaffney brothers for this "Historic event".
I'm followed the Division 1 events (Nationals, Divisionals and National Open Series) for more than 45 years and I'm calling this one "Fan-tastic". Regarding some suggestions from the spectator view: (All of this is part of every growing event) More cleaners restroom, more restaurant service stands and more parking area. Also racer traffic must be corrected specially from the rear restaurant area. Once again, thank you ALL for this "Super event". It will stay in memory forever. Keep on everybody, |
Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
I had a great time and hopefully next year will be even bigger. Lots of spectators which I haven't seen in a while.
Another suggestion for the racers would be some win lights at the end of the track. It would remove some suspense between crossing the finish line and getting the time slip. |
Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
#1 glad that George Mirza won on saturday and that the track had a great event
#1a track is always well prepped for my cars and lets me put the dakota in fly and be free mode, this weekend was no exception. #2 I second the win lights, and there needs to be a rollback on the track premises at all times to get cars off the track, maybe get some new wood for the bleachers, and a post big event special cleanup crew would be a good move. #3 As of of the few racers parked in the drift track I can attest that the path to and from was really bad, and haven't had to dodge baby strollers before, but i did, prefer fans to be in the stands and not in my path to and from. Plus the spectator cars trying to park, would block the path as well....... #4 Then came Sunday....and they started parking spectator cars on the drift track without guidance or control. Had to do a five point turn to get back to the trailer after each run with the truck, Gremlin could squeeze it. pot smoking and drinking going on before they meandered over to the track, fans will be fans.... #5 To put a giant turd on the weekend, some Quebec plated Mensa member since he was parked on the drift track decided to do some test drifts and came within 10-20 feet of where my wife and 17.7 year old Beagle were sitting under the canopy next to the motorhome. Such lack of respect, judgement and lawlessness speaks volumes. I learned of this as I returned from my final run. Mr drift douche and his assclown posse had drifted into the stands to enjoy the day. Packed up and went home. Been going there since 08 this sucked, and will not be forgotten. Wife is very unimpressed. Not sure she wants to go back, can't say I blame her......... |
Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
Win lights would be nice.
At first, I didn't like having to use the app to get a timeslip (there was also a kiosk available at the base of the tower). I did end up liking it, but it was only because I had access to the concession stand's WiFi. If I didn't, I would have had to walk to the tower after each run. Accessible WiFi that covers the track is needed in order to have paperless time slips. I have never been to another track where there were no hamburgers available, only hot dogs. I was going to suggest more availability, but there were also long lines at concession every day. I suspect that the current concession stand is adequate for most events, but possibly one or more food trucks for the big events. Still a very enjoyable event. |
Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
Greg, remember the mad cow disease scare? Thats the reason there are no hamburgers. Not sure why they haven't brought them back.
Please keep the time slip kiosk as I have no service Canada. |
Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
Eric, I am apologize for any inconveniences and idiots that negatively impacted your racing experience. I will do my best next year to get you a better spot to avoid all these issues.
As for the win lights, the track owners feel that this could be a negative distraction to their regularly scheduled races throughout the season; however we are continuously pushing to have them on for the Open races. The concessions do only offer a limited menu and I will mention expanding the menu and/or the food truck idea for next year. I know that the racing compound, stands and concessions are limited; however I do also understand that this is the first event to have an overwhelming amount of cars and fans... I am confident, should this upward trajectory of competitors and fans continue, that the Brunet family will step up and do their best to accommodate these needs. As previously stated, I think that the #'s took us all by surprise. Cars, competitors and fans. I thank you all again for coming, feedback and look forward to seeing you all next year! |

Re: D1 Napierville National Open - TRIPLE $5000 Race!!!
Because that's what Ron told us years ago. I'm sure the rest of Canada has burgers not sure why the track has not brought them back. Maybe another question for the track.
