Gregg Luneauk passes away.
I just received the news that my close friend Gregg Luneack just
passed away. He was my Mentor/Machinist/Friend and I will have a difficult time racing without him to help us! His sole remaining Kidney failed and he has really suffered the last year. Now he is no longer struggling and in pain anymore. I am praying for God's Holy Spirit to be their comforter to his wife Verna and his family and friends in their time of loss. |
Re: Gregg Luneauk passes away.
This is really sad news. Will miss seeing Greg on our trips out West. Prayers for Verna and the family. Mike & Barbara

Re: Gregg Luneauk passes away.
R.I.P. Gregg. I never met Gregg, but knew the name and his reputation. I knew of Gregg's health problems and sorry they finally claimed him - no longer suffering.
He was a friend to many and a great racer and mentor. May God provide comfort to Gregg's family and many friends at this tough time. |

I will let everyone know if there is one scheduled.
I will give Verna a few days of privacy as this has just occurred. |

Re: Gregg Luneauk passes away.
Gregg was for sure one of the good ones. I don't think there are many S/SS racers he hasn't helped, in some way, out here in divisions 7. I'm sure the same can be said about all the other divisions or around the world. I know he had many customers in Sweden and Finland. He was a wealth of knowledge and information. Greg had done and seen it all. I'll really miss our dinners during a race with him, Verna and my wife.

Re: Gregg Luneauk passes away.
When I made the jump from crewmember to Owner/Driver it was Gregg that did the machining for the first motor that I assembled. It was fast from the get go - in many ways thanks to his work. I won B/SA Class at the Las Vegas AC Delco Nationals in my very first National Event. That was an unforgettable weekend!
One of the quotes I often repeat that came from shooting the breeze with Gregg still stands out : “There’s 1000 ways to lose in racing, and if you stick around long enough you’ll experience them all. The Book of Winning is pamphlet, and the Book of Losing is an Encyclopedia.” We laughed about it at the time, but it’s so true. Gregg must have a lot of those Winning Pamphlets on the shelf. I especially loved it when he finished #3 in SS with the Nova wagon he campaigned. A Classic car driven by a Classic dude. Another legend has left the track, and another Final Round has been run. God Bless Verna and Gregg’s family in this time of sadness. |
Re: Gregg Luneauk passes away.
It was always a pleasure dealing with Gregg, as he was as fair and honest as anyone could ever hope for, but it was the hours we spent talking about everything from honing blocks to music and life while sharing our stories that made him feel like a close friend, I'll miss you buddy.

Re: Gregg Luneauk passes away.
I truly don't know how to express gratitude of being able to call Gregg a Friend!! I bought Big Red and the Red Duster from Gregg and we became great friends. Throughout the years I bought all my own machining equipment and he was always there to mentor me with any questions!! Last Spring when some friends of mine hurt an engine I asked if Gregg could help and as he always did he stepped up with help and parts!! He will be missed and every time I fire up Big Red I am sure Gregg will be smiling!!
My thoughts are with Verna and her and Gregg's Families. Darcy Clarke 6254 A/SA SS/EA |
Re: Gregg Luneauk passes away.
I had several long conversations in person with Gregg the
last few months, when we knew his time was coming to an end. He told me that he had accomplished everything that he want to do in his life and was content with what he knew was soon impending. He touched so many of our lives and he will not be forgotten! My son Jon thought of him as a Second Dad and cannot stop thinking about him. |
