Also, if you haven't been to Cecil Co since the last Lucas Oil Race in April of 2023, youll notice A LOT and I MEAN A LOT of changes!!! We run there alot with the Mid Atlantic .90 Series and have seen the upgrades, so when you see Jim or Chad say THANKS!!! In today's world where we are constantly hearing of tracks shutting down it's great to see a track do upgrades to enhance the racers experience!
Once again, you'll have TWO weekends back-to-back at Cecil!! The Lucas Race and the big Stock/SS Combo race the following weekend along with .90, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Juniors and Gamblers Race!! Leave your rigs at the track to save on gas and towing back and forth....support a series that is run by racers for the racers! List of all the upgrades since last April New Lights and Sound system New Grandstands (Was just a slab at last years LODRS) Leveled out the sand trap New Return Road on the right side by scales, should help with Stock / SS backing up when hitting the scales Portions of the facility were re-lined Also parts of it were re-sealed to make it look brand new The side roads by pond and up on the hill have been paved Plus track was re-done about 3 years ago! |
Re: Cecil LODRS Info
If you are attending this weekend’s LODRS at Cecil County and also planning to run the Mid Atlantic race the following weekend, Jim is allowing us to leave your rigs at the track to save on travel and costs of going back and forth. I actually don't work at Cecil but, trying to give as much info as possible so everyone is on point and knows what is going on.
The Mid Atlantic race (May 18-19) there is no set / reserved parking spots for the weekend but be smart about where you park and no crime scene tape stretching a whole row of cars, or if you know someone has multiple cars don’t squeeze them in so they don’t have room. We are all there to have fun and enjoy ourselves during a fun time at the racetrack and the track is gracious enough to allow us to do so! Gates open at 5pm that Friday the 17th for those of you who want to re-enter, the track is NOT OPEN DURING THE WEEK, SO YOU CANNOT STAY IN BETWEEN THE WEEK. There are a few campgrounds a few miles from the track. Bar Habor RV Park - 410-679-0880 OMA's Family Campground - 717-529-2020 So be courteous of your neighbors, clean up after yourself (If you need a trash bag, come find me and I'll give you one) and if you need RV clean out by the time the MA race comes around, I will work on getting that set up. |
Re: Cecil LODRS Info
BKSG1198, I must salute your involvement to this race.

Re: Cecil LODRS Info
Well, their latest post from yesterday stated the race is on.

Re: Cecil LODRS Info
May need to finish on Monday. Saturday and Sunday are still a little shaky.

Wonder if they're gambling on "1 run, straight into eliminations, finish on Saturday" and then anything that gets done on Friday is a bonus? |

Re: Cecil LODRS Info
Whats the latest scoop from folks there at the track?

Re: Cecil LODRS Info
Officially done for the day, tomorrow's forecast does not look promising at all. Sign up for the app NED uses, very informative even if you didn't make it to the track

Re: Cecil LODRS Info
Got through Stock, Super Stock, Super Street, Super Gas R1 and Juniors R1, they still have to do SC, Top, Top & Comp R1 tomorrow. The weather looks iffy but looking at the hourly it looks like there is some opportunity to get some racing done.
Pro Mod has a crash and a car burn pretty good, I heard from a few people who were mad that they were a part of the Lucas Race. Here’s the deal guys, the owner put up a show to put butts in the seats to watch a good show. With Friday being rained out it set a lot of the schedule into the garbage for trying to get as much as they can get done. To me the PM show was great and some fast cars, we all need to stop thinking that we pay the bills for a weekend at a LODRS and these additional classes and programs are brining on a crowd, I can say the stands were pretty packed for a LODRS and with the Pro Mod show would be 75% less. |

Re: Cecil LODRS Info
I heard an expression the other day which seems to describe the NHRA experience more every day, " The juice is not worth the squeeze ". This would apply for both track operations and racers alike. When alot of the participants are spending more to attend a race than they could potentially win, having an enjoyable experience at the race and get home to go to work Monday is about all NHRA has to offer. It seems like a NHRA sanction is like a franchise of sorts. They have let this situation get to a breaking point it seems. Can't even seem to hire and retain a division director or a secretary. I don't know where all those millions that NHRA takes in goes, those Walleys must be very expensive?
I do believe this, if McDonald's takes so much money from the restaurant operator that he can't make money, it's not the cook's or the guy buying a hamburger's fault if he goes out of business. |
Re: Cecil LODRS Info
Sorry guys, but what track operator in their right mind would schedule a race on Mother’s Day weekend. This weekend and Easter are no no’s for drag racing …….:):)
