Battery Charger
I've had another Optima Digital 1200 crap out on me. Any good made in USA chargers out there? 12v or 12v/16v. What are you guys using?

Re: Battery Charger
The best made in the USA charger bar none is made by Interacter

I purchased a new charger a few years ago but it died in 12 months so I just went back to the old one. |

Versions of these for years and they are awesome! I like that they can go 12 or 16 volts as well |

The other made in the USA battery charger with a great reputation is Associated though they manufacture mostly wheeled chargers, but they do have three "portable" non wheeled chargers. https://associatedequip.com/ |

Re: Battery Charger
I've been using a Scumacher, actually a Sears, for many years. It has made the trip to the staging lanes with no problems. It's fully manual bare bones.
|
Re: Battery Charger
Thank you. I don't think Schumacher is made in USA anymore unless I found a 20 year old version on marketplace. Amazing my dad's Sears charger from the '70s still works too. I am looking into Interacter.

Re: Battery Charger
I don’t have any 1st hand experience with them nor do many racers, but I’m well aware of their stellar reputation in the automotive repair industry.

Re: Battery Charger
Been using this Schumacher with pretty good results.
https://www.schumacherelectric.com/p...specifications It goes to maintain when fully charged. Will check if made in China. Have known people who had products manufactured there not everything is junk. |
Re: Battery Charger
That's Chinese junk as is every Schumacher charger!

I don't understand why companies such as Associated make it so hard to buy their product though. You can find on their site a sales rep and area but no companies that sell them and/or pricing. |
Re: Battery Charger
haven't heard of Amazon?
|
Re: Battery Charger
SnapOn chargers used to be made by Associated, I have one of those that is my shop charger. It's every bit of 40 years old, fan is noisy but it still works.

Every tried to support someone else who wasn't a giant liberal trying to put every other reseller out of business? Or is he one of the billionaires you have boasted about being friends with? |
Re: Battery Charger
Says the guy who buys Chinese junk! Fyi, I just within the past hour purchased STIHL parts from a local power equipment store rather than a big box store.:p
For you curtis :D :p https://i.imgur.com/sT8Vwlgl.jpg |
Re: Battery Charger
I'd like to buy the Moroso, but they're out of stock everywhere I know to look.
Not a single online retailer seems to sell Interacter and their website is no help. Rock has moved onto their "2nd generation" charger and it's for sale on their website as well as through ATI. Curious if anyone's used one or has any input on them (yes, even your input 1320...). https://rockracingbattery.company.si...GER-p523633184 |
Re: Battery Charger
nope and I don't know who is manufacturing it for Rock as they are just a marketing/private label for everything they sell.
Call Interacter, and ask him when it will be available, that's the charger you want |
Re: Battery Charger
I looked up a few Schumacher battery chargers on Amazon. They have the country of origin as Mexico.
|
Re: Battery Charger
im thinking Schumacher would not get products made in Mexico & have lots of warranty issues with bad product & lose the good reputation of quality stuff
|
Re: Battery Charger
Schumacher is far from quality stuff, rather it's garbage!
|

Re: Battery Charger
Bobby, i've been using a Black&Decker auto charger for 3 to 4 years. never an issue with it. It'smade for AGM,GEL and wet cell batteries. It's small and light plus won't fry your battery. It cost $75.00 on amazon. Oh ya, it's made in vietnam

Re: Battery Charger
Haven’t gotten a response from Interacter and no answer on the phone when I’ve called.
|
Re: Battery Charger
Update,
I just spoke to Bob at Interacter, he picked up the phone on my 1st attempt. He doesn't have any Road and Track Series chargers in stock but expects to in about 3 weeks. Also says he will still be building them for Moroso too |
Re: Battery Charger
Do you use the # on his website?
I appreciate the update. |
Re: Battery Charger
yes and I called right after I read your post
|
Re: Battery Charger

Did a check on my Schumacher Charger it was made in Mexico. The assumption that made in Mexico is junk is flawed A major vendor to my industry have used for 100s projects wanted to bring in a new product line that was dominated by a competing manufacturer. They did and investigation finding this USA company was having their very high quality product manufactured in Thailand where skilled workers worked for pennies compared to USA labor explaining the competitive pricing we were all taking advantage. Their metal work was beautiful paint finished flawless no dust or orange peel beautiful. This company would not go to Asia and looked at metal crafters in Mexico where they set up a new production plant. The quality and paint finishes are very good. In fact when an unusual project came my way that competitors walked away from they were able to manufacturer what I needed. Very happy client who was told by other vendors it could not be done. Not all products from Mexico and China are junk. What about you 1k cell phone?? As a vendor told me years ago it's about how much $$$$ you have to spend. |
Re: Battery Charger
You chose to continue to fund the communist Chinese government whose war machine is funded with US dollars from cheap dumbasses like you. Remember that when the US and China are at war over Taiwan which is likely to happen before this decade is over! Me, I’ll continue to buy American made products and spend the premium $ happily for American labor, jobs and our economy unless I have no other choice!!
Happy American Labor Day, not Chinese slave Labor Day or Mexican drug cartel mules day! |
