NMRA/NMCA Racing Ends

https://www.nmcadigital.com/blog/pro...ion-of-mo/2792

Tough to hear and regrettably I bear as much responsibility as others for not supporting them, especially since they raced within 200 miles of me on their Rockingham visit.

NHRA has to sharpen their pencil and come up with strategies to survive or suffer a similar fate.

How do you figure?

NMCA had 603 competitors this year if you total up the number of names in points in each class. Most of these competitors only ran 1 or 2 races. NHRA has more entries than that on the ground in St Louis right now as I type.

Pure demographics, more are aging out than are being replaced. All racing venues are stressed by inflation, insurance costs, land values, etc. Ten years from now the racing scene will change dramatically and NHRA has to stay ahead of the game. Inserting a class occasionally or in the case of Mountain Motor Pro Stock just reviving an old one is not strategic, it?s knee jerk.

The new Flying H Dragstrip in Missouri dropped NHRA, they make way more money with No Prep, and there street programs, and don't have to deal with NHRAs BS and DAs like Bill Tharpe who prbably has a Harris sign in his yard. The stands are full and plenty of young racers to support them. Scott Higs probably spent 100k or more bringing dirt in for the divisional, and I would bet NHRA could of cared less, HMMM wonder why he dropped them.

That is what I heard, I drove by the trac last week and noticed they took the big NHRA sign down.

I heard this also, and also heard, STL picked up the div 5 double for sometime in May. So there will be two doubles at STL next year in May and Oct.

NMCA will be missed by many. The sport of drag racing needs an alternative to the NHRA program.

My son told me he saw Tom Baily (six time Drag Week champion, Sick Magazine and Sick Week Drag and Drive events) making inquiries about running the former NMRA/NMCA races.

In my opinion he has the resources to pull this off if he chooses to and thinks he can make money.

If St Louis is getting 2 double races next year how about making one of those doubles a Sportnationals and let us have some class racing and a little better purse.

Just maybe If we can find a Major sponsor for this race for this "Super Sportnationals" that pays Stock and Super Stock, only then can we finally get paid a decent Purse , Just thinking out loud

Hey Don, it seems to me that Hagerty Insurance would make a great "major sponsor" for this race?? :)

Great place, but needs to expand pavement pit area, Spectator parking not being use during sportsmans events would be a great area, but needs pavement first not gravel!

In this day and age and the costs of racing at a Drag Strip, there is no reason for the track to have gravel or bad pits spots. I have talked to the people in charge of certain Drag strips, and they even admit that they would not drive their street car, show car, or street rod on the pits at some Drag strips. Put it this way; Bad Pits is like a restaurant making you sit in the toilets to eat >how does that make the "event' feel for you,and while i am on My soap box, how does it make you feel when the person who is pitting you yells at you and acts like you are a low life for wanting to park your $100,000 race car on a decent pit spot, this person sit the stage for the whole weekend at that track for sure Me i will leave if i get a bad pit spot cause i am the ultimate "pit" snob"

NO reason for anyone to be in gravel at STL ! The infield circle track was not even full yet , there were at least 15-20 spots by me. It is an awesome facility ! I have no idea why you guys were put in the gravel, just not right, the place is huge.
