Divisional Schedules

I wish Divisional schedules came out as quick as we learned about the D3 and D5 doubles at WWT next season :D

I still wish I would hit the lottery too, chances are very slim in both cases 🤣 when I was working this was very frustrating when having to ask for days off ,but for some reason evidently unknown to man this has never happened that I?m aware of.

Re: Divisional Schedules

I hope that D7 schedules better than they did this year. Scheduling a double divisional in Bakersfield the weekend before the All Stars race was insane! It was a 1800 mile tow from Bakersfield and Ennis Q1 was Wednesday at noon. Some guys raced in St. Louis the weekend before, which added more travel days. We raced the first race in Bakersfield, headed east, had RV issues, then drove 27 hours non stop in order to run the D4 race. If we had stayed for race 2 in Bakersfield it would?ve been on a prayer that we got there in time. The Super Street rep did run both races, had issues in Albuquerque and had to rent a truck to get the rest of the way. He got there very late the night before (Jared stayed up late to help him get parked).

We were the only division in Ennis with no Division Director present as the ET finals were the same weekend in Vegas.

Be also nice if they scheduled the Bakersfield race at least a week later. Last 2 years the heat was crazy.

At the track, I was told that Bakersfield will be a week earlier next year... Todd Rodenburg

It would also be nice to have a centrally located National Open at either Pomona or Bakersfield early in the year when we have the potential to set national records.

Scheduling is a very very tough task. Keep in mind that divisionals are not much of a money maker. I would wager that any track makes more money at an Import race , no prep race or a few other specialty races. So if I am running a track, the money makers are getting the best dates.

Agree Justin!

They don?t advertise ( at least I didn?t hear it ) for divisional races.
Two wheel standers, two jet cars or a couple of Fuel exhibition cars would add to the stands. They did it for years and it worked.
They have time to run the super class shootouts as a bonus but that does nothing for the fans. And I?m not dinging my super buddies either. 🤷*♂️
I didn?t see a car count for BF?
How can you complain if you don?t attempt to pack the stands?
I?m running out of time and places to race so the writing is on the wall out here..

Jmho.

You are right Dave. They do usually get more racers at the Import races .But they dont charge them $200 plus to get in the front gate either.LOL

Re: Divisional Schedules

It would be really nice if D7 had some of the same amenities that other divisions seem to have. I was super impressed by D4 using the Discord App to communicate with racers. I'd get a notification when we were called, including the final call, and 44 minutes after Q1, I got sent the pdf of the qualifying sheet.

Not to mention live timing, a live stream, etc.

Kind of disappointed that the bracket finals seem to occupy all of D7's Facebook page with practically no mention of All Star anything...

There HAS to be a way to do better. I know us racers would do our part.

So why aren't tracks making money on divisions ?

There is a good possibility that Redding will have a natl open in May. That would be the only chance to set a record

I guess it’s too much to ask Sonoma Raceway , centrally located and great facilities to get a divisional race! Damn shame!

NHRA brings in their own crew to run the LODRS events. I have heard they charge the track around $30K for this "enhancement." So the track operator is already in the red before the gate even opens.

Moive to TN there are 19 dragstrips within 5 hours of where I live north of Nashville. Bowling Green has 5 Stock and Super Stock Combos a year with a purse of $2.000. I Suspect the Purse will go up next year when PMR opens another shop here

Re: Divisional Schedules

I completely understand there are multiple layers to the “behind the scenes” of getting a drag racing event to exist. Permits, emergency staff, track staff; etc.

I just thought it was fascinating that D3 and D5 already have a date set for next year and it was shared. Logistically speaking, I believe it’d be nice to know the next season’s schedule BEFORE the last race of the current season. Why not release it after the Nationals are set? I know that’s released in July, but is August or September toooo soon?

A national open at Bakersfield before the Winter nationals would out draw our current open in Fallon Nevada about 20 to 1. Add the opportunity to set records , my opinion is this would be wildly successful. As it is we only have Fallon to set a record in D-7, not very conducive to performance at 4000? base elevation in middle of the desert in June🤮
