Horsepower factors
I?m curious and lazy. Who has the highest factored horsepower over the factory rating. I?m would bet that some of the newer cars that have been hit hive the largest difference but some of out great minds on here can probably recite the numbers from memory. I don?t think I?m anywhere close but my 1989 Corvette 350/240 is NHRA rated at 270HP.

Re: Horsepower factors
Ignoring the FS/FSS cars...maybe one of the 1970's smog engines? The 1978 Volare 360/155 is rated at 289, for one example.

Re: Horsepower factors
Some of the smog motors got drastically refactored Ford 460 factory 220 NHRA rated 300 and there are other like this. I think there was a smogger 454 that had a huge increase also.

Just another thing NHRA will never get around to looking at. |
Re: Horsepower factors
I know that TStick and I's combo has been dinged many times. 1980 Chevy 305 currently sits at 232 from 180. I feel like that's pretty heroic!

Re: Horsepower factors
1983 305/150 Camaro now rated at 248 hp.

Re: Horsepower factors
1986 Firebird 305 Small cam 150/266 116 H.P.
Big cam 160/275 115 HP |
Re: Horsepower factors
1973 Ford Torino wagon 429 197hp / 350hp. +153hp

Re: Horsepower factors
1969 427/430 HP L-88 in SS Automatic rated at 503 That is +73 HP
Probably not the highest, but up there. |
Re: Horsepower factors
Well, I just go a call from my friend that is connected to NHRA.
I will just call him "Carnac the Magnificent" Just because he is all knowing about class racing & a few other things.. He said my 73 HP example was nothing... Just look at the 1972 Chevy 454/230 in Super Stock It has a NHRA factor of 390 HP. After looking at the specs... I can see why... |

Re: Horsepower factors
When I purchased my 2022 572 COPO it was rated at 430 HP. Before it made it's first NHRA run at Gainesville it was refactoring to 500 HP! It is by far the worst factored factory hot rod.

Re: Horsepower factors
1973 Nova Hatchback was 350/175/287 +112hp
