What's your 2025 goal?

What's got you motivated for the 2025 season?

Looking back on the same question I posted a year ago, it was very interesting who had some good comments. Two commenters went on to have a spectacular season in 2024. I feel I did well in reaching the goals I set for last year, Green lights and rounds.

So for the '25 season, I'll keep those for this year too and I'll add, getting past the quarters and a better points finish.

HAPPY NEW YEAR CLASS RACERS!!

I want to have as much fun as you do when you're at the race track!

Besides that?

- Make it to Indy for B/SA class (went to Dallas last year instead)
- Win a National Event

I have a few things.

1. Run a full 14 race season with NHRA for the first time.

2. Get the 2024 Camaro finished and racing.

3. Make the 572 COPO more driveable.

4. Have my latest project racing at the Charlotte Spring race.

5. Most important, HAVE FUN!!

I'm curious as to what are your driveability issue(s) with #3. If you wish to share.

As for #5, I agree! I lost track of that many...many years ago & about 5 years ago found it again & plan on keeping it #1.

This was the first 572 COPO completed and delivered. I handed it over to Steve Foley to drive and then Jeff Warren. Until the Fall of 2024, I had never driven it other than off the trailer, etc. The car was pretty decent, but it only liked the best prepared surfaces. I think that I figured most of that out. Now, I need to change the shifter and valvebody. I have a huge problem with that Hurst reverse manual shifter...

Re: What's your 2025 goal?

My goal is to drive a pump gas gasoline engine four wheel drive powered street car to the bracket races that runs 9.00 at just under 150mph without doing a burnout, or towing it to the dragway, and not having any of the BS safety equipment rules you all have to abide by.

The NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) changed its street legal rules for cars built in 2014 and newer, allowing them to run as fast as 150 mph and as quick as 9 seconds in a quarter mile without a roll cage or roll bar. This change is due to the increasing safety and speed of production cars.

Re: What's your 2025 goal?

1. Get the car put back together and running. Am having the engine and trans refreshed.
2. Get my reaction times more consistent. I know it is me and not the car. I am fairly new to Stock and bought a proven car, it has got a lot of class winner stickers and won a division championship a few years ago.
3. Have fun. Winning rounds is always great, but I have just as much fun at a TnT session. I am mostly competing against myself to get better and run quicker times. I ran my best time ever in the car in Sept and was dancing in the pits after. I will take little victories like that all day, every day.
4. Continue to make more drag racing friends. IMO, this alone is the biggest value in going to the tracks every weekend. I do not need to win the "big checks" and trophies to have a great time. The folks I have met have taught me a ton, and helped me out without hesitation when I've needed it. I hope to some day help out others as I have been helped.

Race more than just one weekend with the Firebird (Spring Fling Million) and figure out what to do with the Skyhawk. Two big hail storms two days in a row a couple years back pretty much ruined the exterior.

Chad, would that have been with Joe Threatts 71/72 Mustang 351C car? I remember reading a story about you and that car in Hot Rod or Car Craft many years ago, and thinking how cool that was.

Your comment is not a 2025 goal and I didnt point you out did I. You’re not the only one of your kind. Let’s not ruin this thread with that crap. As long as it’s at the track I don’t care what people call it.

My normal goal setting has changed for 2025. After much thought, and
in consultation with other Racer's, My goal for 2025 is to learn how to
professionally make use of the Ignore Button. I feel that the inner peace
such a move will inspire, will allow my concentration level to soar.

1. To get back in winners circle, finish top 10 nationally

2. To stop telling spectators who like actual cars that we ran at 8am and will run again at 8pm. PS Jarrod Granier's video is about to hit 100K views in ONLY 2 days on FB - Just one of many popular Stock/SS videos on the platform. #TheCarShow

Well, I was able to get down to the final four cars at the
Winternationals and World finals in Pomona in Stock.
I would sure like to win one of those this year!

I do not get to go to nearly as many races as I would like to
attend, so I have to try the best I can at the ones I attend.

My son and I have a Trailer Business to run and I have 5
Grandkids to hang out with.

Re: What's your 2025 goal?

Our main goal is to keep my wife and Crew Chief, Linda, healthy. If we can do that then we have 13 Nationals,13 Divisionals and 2 National Opens. This will be our first trip to Phoenix,Pomona and Las Vegas. We both turn 71 this year so hopefully we can win another Wally. But most of all we will keep the drama out and keep making memories. It'll be nice to see our Division 4 and 5 friends again and make a few more in Division 6,maybe we will make it to Division 7.My wife is battling breast cancer for the 3rd time and Dragracing has been great theropy for her. If we win nothing, we will still be very happy with what God has provided for us being together.

Same as last year... Just get back into a hotrod and race. Supposed to happen 2024 and life got in the way, (my own fault). Looks like it will happen in 2025.

Cut some lights and win some rounds. I had a good season going last year but the weather here in Florida caused me to miss the last couple of races this year. Had a chance at a division top ten and missed out on that. Maybe I can keep that going.

Re: What's your 2025 goal?

I purchased a 1979 AMC spirit stock eliminator car at the end of last season and have just finished going through it.
My goal is to race the stocker and learn what I can this year.
Then work our daughter in to it next year as she graduates out of Jr Street racing.

I have raced for years in NSS and brackets, plus followed class racing.
Goals:
Learn
Get beat
Learn again :)

Re: What's your 2025 goal?

1. Finish the 3 major upgrades I am in process on (all 3 are a day or 2 from completion). It will make it faster, and bring the lights back to where they belong. (Looking forward to Winter 2025 for a couple more upgrades). Manual brake conversion, converter loosened, transaxle refresh).
Update as of the 11th...2 of 3 updates fully completed, and the 3rd 1 is the biggie, yesterday after initially finally getting the Holley Term. X initial install completed and the ignition finished and finally spark, the car fired for the first time (thanks specially goes out to both Greg Hogue - wiring, and Robin Lawrence for WBO2 parts and pcs and advice on getting that hooked up and ironed out), and I still have work to do, and bugs to iron out and tons new to learn to be tap, tap keyboard tuning it has been a long grueling tough but great experience to terminate and wire it myself and finally even it has not yet actually reached idle status yet, to at least hear it fire off a few times yesterday! I still have 13 days to get things fully ironed out before the 1st Test N Tune date on the 24th.

Goal 1-Check,: Goal 2-Check,; Goal 3- Fire In The Hole(s), and now to get it to just light and stay lit! (First up test the functions and review connections and just go back over everything to find out why the fuel pump primes with every key on, but why I have not yet heard the fuel pump come back on after it fires and dies. 1 step at a time. Sounds healthy though went it lights off.

Update 2 after a lot of diagnostic and connection checking, and going through all the long drawn out Fire Up checklist I learned everything is great...Except you cannot run a Terminator X on a Low Impedance Injector...Holley order placed. Goal 3 is in the bag...It ran! The car is almost race ready to work on accomplishing those below.

2. Get out and test early, get educated and used to the new Holley EFI system as fast as possible.

3. Get back to good consistent green lights.

4. Attend as many races as I filled out in the 2025 calendar (including my first Fling), travel a bunch more than the past 2 seasons.

5. Turn on as many (or more), win lights as I did the last 5 racing day of 2024, and the rest will take care of itself. More seat time is key.

6. Just continue to have fun racing again win or lose! Time at the track is about having fun with friends. Crewing for Scott McClay more is a bonus on his Comp entry.
