Spokane - NWCR Races 3 & 4

We are closely watching the fire situation in Medical Lake and the I-90 freeway closure status, and will post status updates when we learn of any changes.

Our next weekend double-header is coming up on August 26-27 at Qlispe Raceway Park in Spokane.
The Kalispel Indian Tribe has made a significant investment in track upgrades: new PortaTree timing system, new finish line scoreboards, several repairs to the track surface where there were bumps, and numerous repairs and upgrades all around the facility. We were there in July and the track was super smooth and very well-prepped.

Gate times: Friday 4 PM to 9 PM, overnight camping is allowed.
Gate Times Saturday and Sunday: 8 AM.
An air-conditioned shuttle runs between the track and Northern Quest Casino & Hotel quite often. Call the track-provided number and they’ll pick you up in minutes and bring you back later.

$150 entry per race. The fee to join NWCR is $150. The membership fee is used to guarantee the purse.
All fees in US dollars. 2 T-shirts are included with each membership. It is not required to join NWCR to race,
but the winner and runner-up payouts are reduced by $300 and $150 respectively for non-members.

BOX and NO BOX will be run so those wanting more seat time can enter these as well as the NWCR combo.

Payouts
11 cars or less, $600 win, $400 r/u, semi $150.
12-16 cars, $1,000 win, $600 r/u, semi $250.
17-20 cars, $1200 win, $700 r/u, semi $400, round 3 loser $200.
21-24 cars, $1400 win, $800 r/u, semi $500, round 3 loser $200.
25-32 cars, $1500 win, $1000 r/u, semi $500, round 3 loser $200.
33 cars or more, $1750 win, $1250 r/u, semi $500, rd 4 loser $400, rd 3 loser $250.

The track said the NWCR races are the “feature” program for the weekend and is looking forward to a good turnout.
They have reserved pit space behind the tower where we may pit together. Let’s put on a good show for them.

Larry, thank you for the info.

Do you know what the gate charge will be? Do they take cards or is it cash only? Can't seem to find any info on their web/facebook.

Spokane Update #1 - NWCR Races 3 & 4

I spoke with the track manager at 11 AM this morning. The race is on. The air quality index (AQI) was 175 in Airway Heights this morning. They are monitoring the AQI every few hours. The I-90 freeway is still closed but there is a detour through Cheney on SR904 which will only add about 10 minutes to travel time.

Gate fee for NWCR racers is $40 per day with crew/spectators at $12 per day.
For those wanting more seat time it is $40 to enter BOX or NO BOX.
Shuttle service is available to/from the casino. Call 509-481-2810.
Camas club cards are free from the casino & will give you 10 cents per gallon off at their gas stations.
He restated that NWCR is the “feature” event of the weekend and they have reserved preferred parking for us.

The rain we had this afternoon really scrubbed a lot of the smoke out of the air so at least for now the air quality is great. Hopefully it stays that way and they can get a good handle on that monster of a damn fire.

Spokane Update #2 - NWCR Races 3 & 4

After a good rain on Monday afternoon the I-90 freeway was reopened. The Air Quality Index as of 10 AM on Wednesday is in the 25-35 range, a huge improvement. The Gray Fire around Medical Lake has reached 48% containment this morning. The overall outlook for the race is looking good. Hope to see you there.

The Air Quality Index as of 11 AM on Thursday is 59, still in the Moderate range. The Gray Fire around Medical Lake has reached 58% containment this morning. The weather forecast for Spokane calls for a chance of rain Friday before noon, then clear skies and sunshine all weekend. Looking forward to a great weekend of racing. Hope to see you there.
