Re: SS Viper
Ok, lets try to continue the build story.
As I've been runinng a Viper business for many years (not now though) we had many choices picking headers. We dynoed with 4 different sets, didn't see much difference. Ended up with a set of American Racing Headers. Nice work, perfect fit. Probably not the best performing set, but good enough for us. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5553/...b2822edb_c.jpgIMG_3911 by j.phersson, on Flickr The exhaust routing and frame on a Viper makes it impossible to exit headers under the car, this is the only way to do it. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3856/...eba66167_c.jpg2012-04-21 17.56.57 by j.phersson, on Flickr |
Re: SS Viper
We also decided to beef up the rear Stabilizer bar, the first one was in our opinion a bit weak, so we ended up with a tube inside a tube style. Sort of what several ProMods are using.
I wanted it as rigid as possible since we use a 3-link instead of 4-link. It's A non tested solution and I think this will help to make the 3-link work as we want. A CAD rendering and the final product. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5572/...bce5ba08_c.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3891/...14f1957d_c.jpg |
Re: SS Viper
It's been a long process and many coold winter nights, so what we initially thought was a good solution have changed.
Our first plan was to drive it with a 4-speed Jerico, but when NHRA made it possible to use a 5-speed we decided to swap to a Liberty Equalizer. The Equalizer is not a small gearbox, so we were not sure if it would fit. We used a empty case to see if it was possible. I can promise it was tight but it did fit between the frame rails. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5574/...11274198_c.jpg The Viper engine sits way back in the car. To make it possible to shift the gear box we moved the Shifter location forward 5" and fabricated a shifter head with a "bend" to move it additional 2" forward. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5585/...7fb79123_c.jpg |
