67 Galaxie - Dime or Dollar$ rocket?
I may have an opportunity to pick up a very straight and fairly clean 289/auto 67 four door.
If I wanted to play with it for cheap, what class would it fit and what do you see as minimum costs? Two kids in college mandate CHEAP. Not any NHRA tracks close except No Problem. Would likely do more bracket racing but would want it class legal......just because. I have not been down a track in 19 years. Should I even give this thought? Question about should I just answered. I just got a "Dad we need........" list. |

Something like Q/SA. Wash it, put tires and headers on it and go race. If you want to enough to ask, then that's the answer.
I should have done this with a 67 Galaxie 19 years ago... Dale |

Here's rule # 1 , for Stock Eliminator, my friend
Find the best car for the class.. Don't find the best class for the car. |
Re: 67 Galaxie - Dime or Dollar$ rocket?
67 289 is at least 30 HP too heavy. If you can turn the car over quickly ( you said it's straight and clean, price it right, it'll sell), take your profits and buy something that has a 302 2V in it.

That's what is going to happen if the family will sell it. (It's in an estate) |

Never had a mid-life crisis but feeling like I just need one more project. Kids have 2 years left in college. May wait and buy something a bit more "ready to go". Saw this one and went dreaming. May still buy it and flip it if I can get a deal on it. "Cruisin" the Coast" will be here in october. (Over 7000 registered cars last year). Price it right and it will go home with someone. |

You could alway put a 390, 428, 427, or a 240(just happen to have a set of clifford hedders for a 67 full size ford with the 240)been sittin on them for 36 years. My wife says i'm a hoarder. Good luck with whatever you decide. Michael Mercer |

Re: 67 Galaxie - Dime or Dollar$ rocket?
I went into the classification guide recently to look at the '67 combos, as there is a 2 door sedan Custom 500 for sale near my home for $2500. I don't know why I stopped to look at it since I'm a Chevy guy,, but I thought a 390 or 428 stick combo could be interesting, although its a rather heavy car. Theres never anyone around, so I don't know how its equipped, since I won't try to open it up. Not sure if it would run as quick as a 427 '66 Bel-Air, as those L-72s were pretty hot engines, but I was entertaining the thought of it.
