Div 1 guys: "Red Alert" Chevelle
Any of you "more experienced" (read: older!) Land of NED guys have any pictures of the '70 Chevelle "Red Alert", that used to run in SS/D? Car was raced by Bob Hamilton out of New Jersey...

Don't know if this helps, but the car was in the Chevy Vettefest in Chicago this past weekend.

Yeah, dad picked it up in Chicago, and we were hoping we could come up with some more "back in the day" photos...thing is a pretty neat piece!

Re: Div 1 guys: "Red Alert" Chevelle
Jim Reid @ Reid Automotive in Whitman Mass (781) 857-2500 had some die cast models of that car.
I believe it was sold at Barrett Jackson a few years ago. |

I saw that car run at Island Dragway I think. Probably in the early 80's...

Re: Div 1 guys: "Red Alert" Chevelle
I have two 1/18 die cast replica of his 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 model cars with the build sheets and window sticker that Bob Hamilton originally signed. The car was bought for $ 5,202.45 from Byrne Bros Inc. N White Plains N.Y.

Re: Div 1 guys: "Red Alert" Chevelle
I had the car in our showroom for quite some time. It's certainly gone through some changes but it remains an incredible car in terms of it's history in the sport. I think there may still be a pallet load of die cast cars around. I was selling them in bulk to the die cast retailers.

Re: Div 1 guys: "Red Alert" Chevelle
I think dad got a couple boxes of the die cast cars (6? in a box??) and a few models I believe...we're trying to track down the Red Alert Drag Team models that they did...had the van & trailer, along with the Chevelle...very rare, I guess! My kids are already playing with 1 Red Alert die cast, along with a die cast of our yellow Yenko Camaro...street racing in the house, gotta love it! LOL!!
Anyway, we're gonna put the car on the track on occasion, just kicking around when/how...we won't set the world on fire by any means, but it would be cool to air it out at an NHRA event or two, no? ;) I'd rather dial it back to maybe C/SA, or at the most A/SA...?? But we've gotta get it on the lift and make sure it's doable before I commit to anything... |
