Dallas S and SS count

I was just looking at the results at drag central. Are the results there correct. Something like 18 in Stock and 19 in SS! I know Dallas is not a popular track but that is bad

That was the first qualifying session at 9 AM Friday morning. There are more there now and I'm sure more coming.

Second Session--31 cars

Up to 54 stockers this morning here in Dallas, SS in the lanes getting ready for their first hit today and I know we grew some in SS overnight as well.
Comp here is stronger than Vegas.
Weather is absolutely perfect, take a look at DRC results and see what I mean from Stock this morning, can you say QUICK? I knew you could......

Hey Unk, First of all, great job on your win at the Houston Nats. Dragracecentral is showing 3rd of comp qualifiing as being the final round for them. Are you in Dallas at the race, whats the deal?

Yep, in Dallas,
Thanks, Houston was WAY COOL, but now car is sold........ :-(

Comp still has one more Q session coming up.
With the weather being what it is here (SPECTACULAR describes it quite well) there will still be some shuffling in the final session. 36 cars to fill a 32 car field.
Adam Hickey has yet to make a run, and he's been #1 already this year.... several very good cars came in over nite and only have one hit at the track (Raymond Martin, Stephen Rosen, Dick Maris, Jody Holland, etc).

Stay tuned,

Unk

Glad to see the count hit the normal range and that gas prices were not holding people back.

David: Did I read that right?? your glad the high fuel prices are not...repeat NOT holding people back ?? That would be the best thing that could happen !! By only having 18-20 people or so..show up in S/ss NHRA will finally realize how bad the high fuel prices are hurting the Sportsman racer and will be forced into increasing the S/ss payouts (so they don't lose money) and we start showing up again. If fuel prices stay high...and we all keep showing up NHRA will think it's not affecting us and keep pocketing all there big profits at every Div. event in the country. If the entry fee is $150 and there's 90 cars in Stock that means the track has taken in $13,500 gross they don't even pay back out 1/3 of that which mean's there making a profit of $9,000 on Stock alone is that sad or what???

Gas prices are affecting the car count at the races. We are seeing more local cars and fewer races willing to travel very far from their home. However, according to my figures the increased cost are not that much and we only get one chance to race. There are only six races in Div. 4 now so you can't miss if you want to finish very high in the points.
Another factor affecting car counts is the constant increase in gate fees. It piles up the cost very quickly. It is probably a good thing that car counts are down, maybe they will second think their cost increases, though I doubt it.
