tuning a methanol engine
I'm building a B/B Chev and using a Holley HP 1050 dominator methanol carb. Does anyone have some tuning tips to start off with, such as timing, EGT's, spark plug heat ranges? I race at altitudes over 3000 ft. Thanks.

Re: tuning a methanol engine
I run a 548ci BBC, NGK 4554 plugs, 33 to 34* timing 1150 APD carb w/188 jets.
BB hope this helps. |
Re: tuning a methanol engine
the easiest way to tune them is judging by the EGTs you want tothem to be close to 1250 if i remember correctly. but the 188s is probably where you will end up or close just remember a lot of people cover up their problems using bigger jets and giving the motors more fuel.

Re: tuning a methanol engine
I work for 1140 deg F... EGT's do rely on placement of the probe in the header. how far they go in and how far they are from the port. Looking at the plugs is also a good idea. You may find the plugs look good, the motor repeats and you are not at the optimum EGT..
