Re: IHRA FWD Weight Breaks
What do ya know! It's an "F" car not an "H" ! Should have run on a 16.30 index. It was really 1.40 OVER not .90 under. Oooops! Jim

Re: IHRA FWD Weight Breaks
Thanks, guys
Okay, let's see. If it's a natural 20# car, that's 155 (hp) x 20= 3100 + 170= 3270# To run H, which it can't (I assume you can drop only one class in IHRA) it would be: 155 x 27.5 = 4266 + 170= 4436 Assuming as a street would be considerably over the shipping weight,he still would have to add 6 to 8 hundred lbs. to get to the legal H weight which he can't run anyway. Don't they weigh cars at an IHRA points meet ? Or did he make up a weight figure, as well as a class? This guy was qualified under the index ,meaning he could have taken someone out that was in the World points chase. Not funny at all. Anyway ,my point is that you can't take a FWD car off the street and run .5 under to win class at Indy. You guys who don't want to apologize here, you can PM me . |
Re: IHRA FWD Weight Breaks
I wasn't there and haven't seen any photo,s , but Bill I thoght was a Mopar guy. Could it have been a Lebaron and not a Lesabre ?

Re: IHRA FWD Weight Breaks
I was there and it was a Buick. I remember because I made the comment to a friend that there is no way that he will be able to run the index in the extremely poor weather conditions that we had at pittsburgh over the weekend.

Re: IHRA FWD Weight Breaks
88 Chrysler LeBaron GTS (2.5 non-turbo) would be a natural GF - could run HF. (115HP -> 3332lb in HF/SA). Might be possible to run 17.70 (TCI calculator estimates 17.76 based on HP and weight) but not just pulling it off the lot - it would need some work.
EDIT - since Aaron confirmed it was a Buick while I was typing the above analogy is out the window. |
Re: IHRA FWD Weight Breaks
Must have been the Carrol Shelby approved, Buddy Ingersol built twin turbo V6.

Re: IHRA FWD Weight Breaks
First let me say I have never heard of this guy in my life. I got info that this "Wild Bill" guy (who I understand is a Hemi racer) intentionally classified this car to the wrong class to stick his finger in the eye of FWD racers and Stock eliminator in general. He had to know he would be caught. What did he think this would accomplish? Thanks to Yak for bringing this to our attention. This thing has taken on a life of it's own with the more we find out the more it should piss off ALL racer, not just FWD guys. This guy has possibly taken points and money away from REAL racers by fraud. He needs to come on here and explain himself. I hope IHRA will investigate this and take appropriate action. Jim

Re: IHRA FWD Weight Breaks
There's an easy fix - Nobody in a FWD would like it though :) Just kidding they don't bother me have as much as the bogus turbo cars! OOps sorry again Jim :) Maybe I need to do a Toronado with a 455
