Re: link to 2009-2010 camaro with engines
So if I am reading this right an SS with the LS3 engine is a natural 'C' car (9.27 #/HP) assuming factory HP rating. And a 'D' car with the L99 engine.

So, I presume the fancy independent rear suspension will find a new location out behind the shop and a 12 bolt will take it's place? Wonder how a 12 bolt is going to stand up to a 600+ HP 3900 lb car...??
Still taking guesses on what it's official NHRA shipping weight will be.... 'betcha the LS3 will be an A/B car when the deal is done. |
Re: link to 2009-2010 camaro with engines
& I bet before it's all said & done Chevy will screw this thing up too! The car looks ok but I would still rather have a Mustang or Challenger. the new Car& Driver has a pretty good artical on the new Camaro...I just hope it's a better "street/road" car then the last! in 1997 I test drove everything...their's been a Mustang GT @ my house ever sence! I think the Challenger is just to heavy @ 4000+ but it's damn cool to look @

There is the special race version Challenger, a proposed Cobrajet Mustang, maybe there will be a COPO Camaro? Would be neat anyways.

With the financial condition of GM and the price of gas it will be a miracle if the car ever gets built.

Re: link to 2009-2010 camaro with engines
These days, with fuel efficiency being such a major factor, you have to wonder why they'd build the cars that heavy. The new Camaro isn't bad looking, but it isn't stunning, either. Even if it were stunning, I don't think I'd have the slightest interest in a 4000 pound "performance car". There's just no excuse for the car to weigh that much, or even close. Loaded, with every option, it shouldn't be over 3500 pounds. They'd need to have one down around 3000 to 3300 pounds for the performance crowd.

Re: link to 2009-2010 camaro with engines
They keep delaying the launch date, like Greg, I think there is a good chance it will never hit the street.
The car is beginning to grow on me a little. A trick race paint job and you never know, it may look pretty good! But 3,900 pounds is a non-starter. Mopar has supposedly trimmed 800 pounds off their cars maybe GM will do the same, if they ever make it. Wonder what Warren's budget looks like for 2009??? |
Re: link to 2009-2010 camaro with engines
I am just waiting for the way cooler Firebird version. ;)

Re: link to 2009-2010 camaro with engines
Lynn,
I wouldn't get your hopes up! Around here they are closing/merging Buick and Pontiac dealers. If the market for overpriced and overweight Camaros is small, how tiny is the Firebird market?? |
