Wishing a fast recovery for Mike Morris
To all that know him, Mikey has raced Stock and Super Stock for years mostly in IHRA but always the close NHRA Division 3 races. He was injured Sunday afternoon while he and his son Darren was riding an ATV Rhino. We had all rode for several hours on a friends farm and were done for the day. He and Darren wanted to take a ride on the Rhino and what was a nice day turned ugly very quick. They turned the Rhino over on the drivers side and Mikey took the hardest impact. They did not roll it over. They weren't thrown out but more or less impacted the ground hard. Darren wasn't injured other than a few bruises. Mikey was taken by ambulance to a local hospital then flown into University of Louisville Hospital. The extent of his injuries are a broken back ( L1 vertebrae) and a nasty cut on his head that required 2 staples. He is OK if that can be said in the same sentence as a broken back but we all know it could have been much worse. He is in a back brace and will remain in it for 3 months. He can't pick up anything heavier than a gallon of milk and can not work. He is in good spirits, but I told him he looks like he is walking on glass. He hopes to attend the Bowling Green points race as a spectator. You can't keep a good man down long. ;)
If you would like to send him a card here is his address: Mike Morris 524 Maxie Court New Haven, KY 40051 |

Get well soon mike, if you need to lift your spirits a little you can watch the video from the final at norwalk a few years ago, if you need anything you know all you have to do is ask, see at the valley later this year, David Mercer

Re: Wishing a fast recovery for Mike Morris
Thanks for posting this Donna, I was going to post yesterday, but I forgot about it & you have more information than I did at the time.
Mikey looked pretty good when we went to visit last night. He's in very good spirits & is learning he'll have to follow the doctors orders a little bit more. He has hopes of returning to the drivers seat this year, but we'll see about that, he's got a lot of healing to do before that can happen. Right now he's worried about getting his truck to Beech Bend, he said he'd rather see it down there than leaving it at home. We'll see what happens. Get well soon Mikey! Ricky, Sarah & Gracie |

Mikey wish you a quick recovery. Beech Bend won't be the same without you behind the wheel of your truck. If there is anything you need or your family just let me know!
