Sportsman on ESPN today

Again I am disappointed by what they showed of the Sportsman results from Indy
that was on ESPN today. :(

Stock and Superstock, they only showed the final two cars in each class, BUT of
course they showed all of the dragsters and floppers for the rest of the hour show.

Why doesn't NHRA have a videocast of the sportsman races on there website? They can do an audiocast, why not a videocast? It might actually increase the NHRA membership sales.

Does this surprise you? If you watch the Sportsman coverage regularly you'd know you usually don't get that much coverage!!! They did show Westcott's car in super slow mo in the beginning of the show, what more do you want?!?!?!

Jeremy 1374, what do I want?

Oh I'd like to see the people at NHRA care about the little guys,

But in the mean time (since the above will never happen) I have to make do
with video's by Larry Pfister of Horsepower Heaven like FOUR DAYS IN MAY,
Monsters of launch and HEMI Heaven plus replays that I've saved of Pinks all out.

About a million years ago (maybe 1970???) NHRA did a LIVE broadcast of a national event (probably the Winternationals.) Remember, I said "LIVE/"

Well, some delay (oildowns, maybe) caused a sizeable glitch in their schedule, and the timeframe available for broadcast coincided with..... sit down..... STOCK ELIMINATOR!!!!!!!

I sat in front of my TV, transfixed fo 30 minutes while one Stocker after another left the line, while the suits at NHRA were planning how to make sure THAT never happened again.... and, it hasn't.

But, for a while, there was Camelot.... :)

Bill, I wish I could have seen that in 1970, but I think I was still in my Uncles Army
at that time saving the NHRA suits from the evil Russians or something like that.

Re: Sportsman on ESPN today

Indy was broadcast LIVE a number of years ago on Monday. It was around the late 90's or maybe a little later. Sheldon Gecker won S/G , Scotty Richardson won Stock and Peter Biondo won SS, If I rememeber right..... They did a great job and showed all the classes. I remember watching it for a good part of the afternoon and the finals were all shown as they were run. Ratings must have been poor and live coverage never really materialized. Too long and too many opportunities for down time that would leave them with nothing to do but talk......

Re: Sportsman on ESPN today

is there ANY video of eliminations or class eliminations out there.
I beleive this to be a money maker, especially for class as it is heads up and no explanations needed to the uninformed fans of these stock body cars. remember wheelies sell videos as do heads up to match.. it truely is an easy concept.

The live 1970 broadcast was by ABC of the first Supernationals at Ontario Speedway
