Staging Lanes Photo 1993
 

I took this photo from the walk-over bridge at Huntsville, Alabama in 1993. This was an IHRA points race. I recognize three of the cars. The black car in the middle, front is the Chevy II of the Shortridge Bros. TCI Test Car. The gold GTO to the left of the photo is Joe Tankersly's wild, stick shift, Super Rod entry. The yellow Dodge Challenger(Japan Model) is Kenny Raines from LaFaette, Georgia. Kenny was Super Rod champion in the late 90's. His car was named "Mopar Madness". You can also see Mark Young's Mustang to the far right.

This brings back a lot of memories, I was at that race in 1993, my car was the second in back of Mark Young,The Yellow & White 1956 Cevrolet

I cant believe that I left the H out of CHEVROLET, After looking closer to the picture I think that I am standing on the right side of Danny Shortridge's car talking to Mark Lewis, Also that was the first round of Super Stock. The Corvette in front of my 56 Chevy was Noel Davis.

That's me in the middle rowbehind the super stock camaro. I was driving super rod in Gary Murff's camaro. Got down to three that race.What memories. Miss those old days /DW sr./Thanks for the picture...

Yeah ,the ending for the good ol days for me .I went to work for IHRA that year.Racing has been limited since,with my son starting to race about that time. Gave him all my stuff and honestly it has been as much fun or more to watch him do good in the sport that i love so much.I used to tell him he needed to catch up with me on iron men .At that time i had earned to in IHRA hot rod div .Still got a stocker and plan on going to Carolina Dragway this weekend .See ya !
