first year s/c
ok,this is gonna be my first year running s/c..my current set up runs 8.70@150...now would it be more consistant to go on the stop early or farther down track? i know it wont be on the stop vary long,so i am trying to decide wether to go on the stop early, and shift after comes back on,or let it launch full bore, and go on the stop after the shift...lookin forward to runnin with you guys this year..thanks brian

I say go long and stop it @ the end.

Re: first year s/c
For years I help my dad with his 9.6 Camaro in 9.90. We tried everything. What worked the best for us was an electric base stop. We turned the timer on at .1 and run it out to wherever we need it to run 9.90 (or 9.86 :D). We set the rpm on the stop around 800 under the convertor stahl and let it gradually rise. Worked pretty good for us!! We also tried shifting right before the stop went off and didn't see much difference. For us, using the stop down track added to many weather related variables, mostly headwind.

being that clost ot running 8.90 I would try adding some wieght and run it out. I would be afraid to put it on a stop trying to scrub a tenth or two.

Re: first year s/c
Take all that "STOP" junk and throw it in the garbage. Buy or build a Stock, Super Stock or Comp machine. Fans and most racers "HATE" stop cars. It's ruining dragracing.

Re: first year s/c
I've tried them all :)
What worked best for me was to go on the stop early as you can , so you can have the whole track in front of you and get all of your MPH .--- I ran 9.90 @ 150 with a car that would only run 153/154 all out ! Colorful Racer |
