Re: NHRA Contingency List Up
I seriously doubt it is complete. However, I would not count on that list doing much more than maybe doubling in length and volume. Hell, some of the ones that already posted are still paying from a year or two ago and are not caught up yet.
NHRA really needs to make some serious concessions for sponsors. Their cut is massive, and excessive. They need to be cutting fees, and making other concessions to help sponsors and racers, but they won't. I'm not at all a fan of Don Schumacher, but one thing he got right in a recent interview is that no one has seen NHRA do anything to benefit anyone but themselves in light of the recent economic downturn. And I really do not expect to see them do so, either. |
Re: NHRA Contingency List Up
At the very least,I would expect some manufacturers of 3.2A/1 pants to pay some contingency. After all, there are over 1100 registered drivers in NHRA Stock Eliminator and I would guess that the majority of them are now required to wear pants.

Re: NHRA Contingency List Up
I'm sure a few more will be on the list, but as of now I will only have 10 manufacturers on the list,as compared to 42 last year ! ...............Fortunately the ones that are left for me are some of the good guys that really support the racer, and pay promptly.........Personally, I would'nt be suprised if a few manufacturers, circumvented the NHRA ,and paid racers contingencies without posting thru the NHRA. ........Some mfgr's have done this in the past. ........I've been told by a few mfgr's that posted in the past, that they would never participate thru NHRA again, not because of the payout to the racers, but the way NHRA runs the program. .......Tom

Re: NHRA Contingency List Up
The current list was as of Nov.08....I'm sure there will be more but not as many as last year. I too would like to see more manufacturers pay direct to the racer than going thru NHRA. It would cost the sponcer less and make it able for them to direct the money where they want it to go. But let's face it the contingency program has been in decline for many years now. In 1998 a super stock racer could get $2000 for a class win. In 2008 lucky to get $600. That is not progress on our part. A racer used to get all kinds of free product when they went to a national event....STP....Wax....Tee Shirts....ect. but that went out years ago. National event eliminator win in S/S 1998---$1500 today $1800 with the same round money. There is no reason why the eliminator purse that is paid for the U.S.Nationals can not be paid for at all events.

Re: NHRA Contingency List Up
Along the lines of contingency sponcers........Castrol announced their continued support of John Force but did you notice that they also dropped all sportsman contingency programs along with their at track programs. Three more decals off the car for 09.
