82-92 Camaro Hood Question
A friend of mine has a 82-92 Camaro super stock GT car with no ground effects. (non Z28) Can he run the factory fiberglass hood on that car? The hood has no functional scoops or anything like that, just the 2 indents like the steel 88 Z28 hood, minus the louvers. Is it legal to run? The rules are kinda sketchy and from what I read its legal. Just don't want to prep the hood for paint and find out its not.

Re: 82-92 Camaro Hood Question
I don't think so. If its a base Camaro body with no ground effects, it will have a standard flat hood on it. Is their a reason why he wants to use the Z-28 glass hood ? That hood is useless, no performance advantage. Its heavy as a tank and most of them will need repairs on the front edge. I would be looking for the aluminum hood used on the base 82 to 84 4 & 6 cylinder cars. Don't quote me on this. But I heard from the Boys down South, the 82 to 84 hood was better on the under side for a lot of reasons as well as being lighter.
A call to tech will be the final word. |

Re: 82-92 Camaro Hood Question
Check the various 3rd gen web sites. I know for a fact that an 89 RS had ground effects and a flat hood. May apply to other years.
