Shoe Polish
My dad bought a new truck that had shoe polish numbers on the plastic windows. We can't get the shoe polish off with regular cleaning agents and I wondered if any of you had any ideas that wouldn't ruin the windows.
Thanks, Bob |
Re: Shoe Polish
Bob, a razor blade will work well. When I was racing my street car several years ago, I had coated all the windows with Rain-X. Works great for keeping the windows clear in a rainstorm, but not so good for car numbers and dial-ins. I scraped the area with a razor blade to put the car number, class and dial-ins on, and it worked fine with no damage.
My mother bought a car last year that had paint on the windows, it was acrylic paint. She got the paint off rubbing alcohol. Hope this will help. |

Re: Shoe Polish
Yes, isoprophyl rubbing alcohol literally melts shoe polish off, sometimes with just a little extra rubbing. But a razor blade is a good option also.

Re: Shoe Polish
If you or someone you know runs methanol, put some on a clean rag and wipe the numbers off.comes off real easy

Re: Shoe Polish
I wouldn't use a razor blade on plastic windows..... rub the area with some plastic polish, like from Meguiar's....http://www.meguiars.com/ ....look under "products" under "CLear plastic care". This stuff works really good.

Re: Shoe Polish
Oops! I missed the "plastic" windows part.
But the isoprophyl alcohol worked fine when I had a bracket Challenger with lexan. Just don't rub too hard. Let the alcohol do most of the work. |
