Mopar heads
This pertains to IHRA Stock calss. Can I run the '67 915 heads on my '64 426 street wedge (365hp) or am I restricted to the original 516 head?
Looking at the figures it seems the car will fall into G/SA but not sure. The car is a '64 Plymouth Savoy 2dr sedan and I believe the engine has been factored down. Any help would be appreciated. Jim |
Re: Mopar heads
I don't know about IHRA but they are legal in NHRA with a 1.60 exhaust valve. Shawn

The problem is that they come with a 1.74 exhaust, can I put new seats in them so I can use the smaller 1.60's? |

Re: Mopar heads
Original 915 heads with 1.60 exaust are easier to find and cheaper than the 1.74 versions. I found info on the NHRA spec sheets that allow the 915 heads on 65 and 66 cars but I can't find it for anything earlier. It would be nice if you could use them on the 62 361/305, the intake port is identical to the 906 head which is light years ahead of the 516, Paul.

Paul, there are several early engine combo's that could benefit with the 915's, 62 383 motors, 62 413's (less max wedge), 63 & 64 383's, and I believe it would make the 64 426s motor competitive.....516's are not viable, too restrictive. |
Re: Mopar heads
I have a question, what head dose a stage 3 run now ? 518 heads were hard to find in the 70s. Now I would think they are gold ! Is there a mopar replacement acceptable now?
