Battery Question
I run a BBC stocker. Currently I have a 16V battery with 16V alternator. 7AL3 ignition. The car starts quickly-not a lot of cranking required. The problem I have is by the time I make a pass (3-4 starts to get to the line) the car usually does not start by the time I get through tech. I have replaced the starter and would not think the fuel pump, water pump, igniton and fan would draw that much. Also I have check the alternator for a draw. What is the concensus of opinion with regards to type of battery and how many?

Re: Battery Question
Joe, I have no help on the battery, when we ran it was a 12 volt system. When you try to the start engine does it try and then just draw down? What we did on our stockers is have an ign kill switch on the dash and when the starter pulled down I would kill the ign and when it turned fast enough hit the ign and it would start. Henry.

Re: Battery Question
Don't kid yourself about how much the water pump and fan draw. If you are like most, you run your water pump and fan for a while after getting back from a run. If you don't put it on a charger between runs those two items alone can really draw down a battery, especially a single battery. Do you run your pump and fan at 16V too or do you have something that drops the voltage to 12V for those item?
