Oil contamination
 

After one run this is what my oil looked like at the breather. My engine builder told me this is normal condensation but it looks excessive to me. The oil is Royal Purple 30wt.

drop the oil,that will tell the tale,,is this a supercharged car??? gmonde

Not supercharged. Just a gas burning 468.

what brand of oil are you using ??? when was the last time the engine was running???? comp 387

Royal Purple XPR 5w 30. The oil was brand new and when I got home this is what it looked like. The picture is after one run.

That is real common. Weather conditions of course make a difference. Cold, humid etc..It might be a result of what I mentioned combined with the engine not breathing well enough. Similar to a foggy morning. That is condensation mixed with the oil and the condensation can't exit. I had that in a 461 Chevy and it went away when it warmed up outside like over 60F.

I had the same problem. The more runs I ran, the more it disappeared, but never went away. I took it as a characteristic of the synthetic oil. It looked good on the dipstick, but milky like on the oil fill cap or valve cover. I also used the R.P. 30w, and Redline too.

Some brands of oil will turn milky more than others--- For example Valvoline is/was not as bad as Pennzoil- We chased what we thought was a bad gasket only to find in our case it was condensation--- It is probably just condensation---Make sure you have your crankcase vented somehow either to the exhaust or by a vacuum pump. Clean off the v. covers a few times with brake clean eventually it will go away----Try leaving the valve covers off for a bit when the engine gets hot to let the steam escape some times that helps too. Try another brand of oil too see if that helps. Comp 387
