3 speed for captain jack
well it wasnt the free ET i had planned on !
i have installed a turbo 350, 2.75 low gear with good insides, prepared by thomas arnett it is a good piece using a powerglide input and my old converter HOWEVER much to my amazement i was unable to ID anywhere on the track i made substantial gains.. the -1.15 was a good pass but not my best ever, however i offer these observations 1. i ran a glide for 28 years, and i knew what it wanted as far as gear, shift points etc. .... the turbo was as fast as the powerglide on day one... room to improve 2. i believe i am over geared and will try the 5.86 instead of the 6.14 soonest 3. converter dropped flash from 4800-4900 to 4500-4600 i need looser converter i believe there is ET there for me to obtain, however ill never beat that caddy :( thanks to those whose interest has made this fun jack mccarthy |
Re: 3 speed for captain jack
Jack,
Thanks for the rundown! I am curious as to the 60-foot times. Were they better, the same, or worse? Did you experience any wheelspin (that is NOT a trick question) with this new setup? Thanks for the info!!!! Bill |
Re: 3 speed for captain jack
60 foot might have improved .01 / .02 ?
i never spin, 2800 lbs rear 1700 lbs front jack |
Re: 3 speed for captain jack
Hey Jack,
I would try that 5.86 gear before I changed the converter. That should change the flash rpm in itself. But I'm sure you knew that. Good Luck! |
