LS series, 6.0 iron block overbore allowance
Tell me about the 6.0 iron block cylinder wall thickness. Is an .030 overbore acceptable for 575 horse combination? [Carburetor, no power adders]

Re: LS series, 6.0 iron block overbore allowance
I've never sonic checked a 6.0 block, but have seen a report on one that was done. Worst hole at stock 4.000" bore was .098" on non thrust, .295" on thrust side.

.30 over on a Cast Iron LS Truck block is fine.We make over 700 NA Flywheel Horse on one and have never had a problem.
.30 over(4.030) with a 4" Stroke Crank is the Common 408" Combo that just about all LS Builders Sell. Ray T |

Try to find a pre 2005 (GEN III) version 6.0 block as they do not have the LOMA bosses added in the valley. This will save you approximately 15 lbs of mass.
