Sway Control question
I have a Motorsport trailer 28' triple axle that has 3" wide x 5" tall A frame members..any recommendations for sway control?..I have the HP Reese trunnion setup now, and not sure if the old friction style is worth a hoot, or should I just go with the Dual Cam setup...With the stocker or a dragster in the trailer it's kinda bad with sway..the Cutlass doesn't seem near as bad, I guess 'cause it's got a BBC in it. I would have to weld the "pieces" to the frame in lieu of using the U Bolts supplied..I'm trying to avoid that.
It is my understanding that the Reese setup is for 2 1/2" wide frame members, not 3"..anything on the market that is the new hot lick? |
Re: Sway Control question
Rob, My experiance is the dual cam is much better than the friction bars. .. ..I can barely feel my triple axle 26' Goldrush move behind the motorhome except on the worst of days........Are you still towing behind a coach? ......For a pickup or Suburban, I'd highly recommend a PullRite hitch. ....It moves the pivit point of the trailer to just behind the axle housing, eliminating the leverage the trailer exerts on the normal rear overhang. .....I had one when I towed with a Suburban, had a 30' triple axle Haulmark behind it ,and it was effortless, almost like towing an open trailer! ...Tom

Re: Sway Control question
Thanks Tom..I still use the Coach on occasion, but I also have a 2500HD Duramax that I use for bracket racing which does extremely well..My Silverado SS on the other hand, not so good..The motorhome setup has the trailer swaying like crazy..all my other trailers behave without all the sway control..I had pretty much decided to order from Camping World the dual cam set-up, but I thought I'd jump on here first just in case there was something else on the market that was new, groovy, and out of sight. You class guys are always keeping up with what's current. Cheers.

Re: Sway Control question
Robert....Your old trailer tows like a dream and I do use the Reese dual cam sway control and have for 20 years. I highly recommend it......I've had one since day one with an enclosed trailer. Doorcar, dragster, suburban, pickup truck.....it works and sway is non-existant.
