Jim Hale 68 Cuda

Was just wondering if the car S.E. Buchanan is driving is Jim Hales car and if he has bought it from Jim or is he driving for him. I have been watching Jim for several years and while he lives just down the road and I drive by his house every day, I don't know him except by reputation. But I keep up with him on Drag Central.

You should stop in and say "hi". Those are good people and love to talk drag racing! After all, you guys are neighbors! Jim

I am sure he does not need some hick stopping by and gushing. Now at the track is a different thing. I have no qualms about stopping by someones pit, but as they say a mans home is his castle...

If you live that close then stop by and say HELLO.. Both Jim and his wife are great people.. I just really got to know them the last couple of years.. Make plenty of time because they love to talk.

As him to tell you about the "WillieMo".

I think it was his first race car, hard to remember as this was in the mid 60s.

If I remember correctly it was a four door, 57 or 58 Plymouth with a max wedge.

I agree with Wahl. With the success S.E. has enjoyed over the years his passion has to be at least as much as yours. In my opinion, it's the people that make this such a great sport, fans, enthusiasts, and racers alike. And it makes a big impression on a racer when an enthusiast knows a thing or two about class racing!!!
So go on Steve, give it a whirl, you might be surprised.;)

I think he sold that car to a Chrysler Rep named John Moore out of Memphis. The reason i say that is he ran BMP with it back then. My dad had a 57 nomad wagon with a 4 speed. He couldnt outrun my dad for class so he approached him, offered him a 1965 Hemi 4 Speed car from Chrysler and the rest is History. Oh yea he told my dad the only way he could race the 4 Speed car was to put MR 4 SPEED on the Door. Now you know the "rest of the story" and the man who gave him the name. John is still alive at 85 in Charleston SC, my dad eats dinner with him every year on his way to the PRI show.
