Questions about a 1956 Rochester 4 barrel carb
I'm rebuilding a 1956 4 barrel Rochester carb number 7008737 and have a few questions. While I was tearing the carb apart, I noticed their was a check ball in the right jet main well but not in the other 3. Is this normal or did some make a mistake when this carb was rebuilt years ago ??? Are their any other check balls in this carb and where are they ? Are their any other internal or external leaking problems that I should look at. This is a Original stocker Pleasure Cruiser rebuild not a Drag Race car.
Thanks for Looking and any Help you can provide Ron Miller 92 Camaro GT/DA 3287 Brownstown, Mi |
Re: Questions about a 1956 Rochester 4 barrel carb
No balls under the main jets, if that's what you're asking. Musta got lost.
The smaller of the two check balls that come in the kit goes in the accelerater pump feed passage in the well. The larger one goes under the little spring and T tab under the venturi cluster. It keeps the squirters primed. |

Thanks for the reply. Thats what I thought when it came apart. The carb was rebuilt by somebody that didn't know what they were doing. Their were alot of things done incorrectly, wrong main body gasket to top, float level set way to high, etc. My rebuilding kit has two new balls, one steel and one aluminum. Its going to together as I type this. Thanks Again for the Help, Ron |
