Question on MSD ignition...

I am looking for some help on how to program an MSD Programmable Digital-7 Ignition, part number PN7530T. I bought a stick shift stocker with this ignition in the car and need help to try to program the burnout RPM, launch RPM, and shift points. Do I need to do this with a laptop computer? Do I need a special program? Will I need to purchase more parts from MSD to program it? I only know a little bit about computers so I am looking for some help. I haven't run the car yet and want to make sure that everything is set up correctly so when I do run it I won't damage anything. I haven't raced in 16 years and I am an old school racer.

Thanks
Ronn

Go here and download the instructions for the 7530T -

You can change everything but the downtrack timing retards with the hand held monitor they make. To do all including downtrack will require a laptop.

Re: Question on MSD ignition...

Don't let the laptop thing scare you. Yes, a handheld is great to have in the car to adjust rpm quickly if you want to. The laptop is nice for saving tuneups and for adjusting in more areas as mentioned. You don't need a fancy or expensive laptop either. The program isn't a memoory hog. I would suggest finding a racer in your area that can show you. If not possible, try the msd trailer. Bring your lptop with and ask them to walk you through it . e mail me with any questions that might come up. We stickshift racers have to well, stick together. jimschaechter@earthlink.net
