68-72 Nova front disc brakes

Does anybody make a disc front brake kit that uses the factory disc brake spindle or do you have to buy drum spindles.

Thanks,
Rick Ryan

Strange has a kit for you. I put them on my Camaro last year.

I have Strange brakes on my Nova and I had to find drum brake spindles. The factory upper mounting boss is too short. The Wilwood and Aerospace brakes I believe provide you with a spacer to make up the difference. I'd rather find a good set of drum spindles than use a spacer. Just my thoughts

Strange now sells a kit for the factory disk spindles - B4112WC. I ordered and installed this kit on my 68 Camaro with factory front disks.

check out the Stainless Steel Brake Corp web site "ssbrakes.com" they just released a four piston competition caliper kit for GM disc brake spindles. Just put a set on my Camaro and they work great!

Rick, I'm pretty sure that all late '60's and early '70's A & F body drum brake spindles are the same, and are forged steel. Most, if not all, factory disc spindles are cast steel and incorporate the steering arms. My point being, drum stuff is a little lighter, stronger, and should fit.

I used '68 Cutlass drum spindles on my '79 Malibu and the corresponding Aerospace brake kit. I think the only thing I had to do was use a washer under the nut for the outer tie rod so it wouldn't bottom out. That was due to a slightly longer stud on the tie rod. The forged steering arms are a little shorter but that has presented no problems. Unless you plan on autocross or lots of parallel parking. Other people have driven my car and weren't aware of any difference.

Don't anybody hesitate to correct any wrong info.
Ken
