Older Bodies

After seeing this pic of Jim Reynolds SS/AM '57 sedan I began to wonder if the sanctioning bodies would consider weight breaks for older style bodies for S/S modified classes and perhaps Comp (altered) like they've done for Pro Mod. Better yet, is to change the rules allowing pre '67 bodies run A, E, F Super Modified (like the old MP classes). Wishful thinking, but would be cool nontheless bringing back "Tri-5s", wagons, etc.

Jim Reynolds owns 2 beautiful cars. This 57 and a 1960 Corvette. Both cars run in Super Stock.
I never have understood the 1967 & up rule for the Super Stock/Stock classes. Anyone know the reasoning for this?

I thought he was talking about drivers not cars, I definitely have one of those older bodies!

Jim Dandy will also go 5:40`s in the eighth mile. The picture does no justice to this car. Reynolds is a tough competitor as well. Hope to see the 57 at Roxboro this weekend.

I agree, their needs to be a rule change made here. I am a yungin( 22 years old) and I grew up on the older modified cars. I remember watching Mike Stokes and Terry Sherrill run their old cars in Super Stock. Mike ran an early 62 model vette in SS/DM and Terry ran a 57 vette in SS/AM. Those were the good ole days! lol

I would like to see more (some) competitive modified cars that are traditional rear wheel drive. I do like/appreciate the cobalt/sunfires/cavaliers, but it would make the class much more exciting/dynamic to have Big Block 50's/60's/70's cars in the mix. I happen to like Anthony Geanconteri's 68 Chevelle - SS/BS, Way Cool. http://www.autoimagery.com/store/cgi...ch=geanconteri I believe a weight break for those cars would be an answer, but how to define it ? Some rwd cars are much smaller and slippery than others.

Anyone why there is the 1967 & up rule in SS/AS, SS/BS & SS/CS?
