Trouble Towing in North Carolina
Anybody having trouble with DOT in NC? I have a friend who got really busted with a conversion and a stacker and lots of other threats. Anyone else have any trouble?

Re: Trouble Towing in North Carolina
I was all over NC; Rockingham, Piedmont, went through Charlotte like three times in my travels with the 50' rig below with zero problems and never once pulled into a weigh station.

Re: Trouble Towing in North Carolina
rick, they let you park that in front of the house? I just got a letter from the HOA for my "commercial" vehicle stored in the driveway. It's a C4500 04 year model. Don't have room for the trailer at the house.
Oh yea, truck in privately registered, inspected and insured. |
Re: Trouble Towing in North Carolina
I rarely leave it there Bobby, usually it's parked beside the house but I have been known to leave it there when attending back to back weekend events....my neighbors are very cool and actually enjoy seeing the car being loaded up and such

Re: Trouble Towing in North Carolina
I thought that NC had this all straightened out with the motorsports association liaison to the govt.

They do I think you can go to 90 ft maybe 85 with a motorsports exemption. Ill find the article that states this and post it.

Re: Trouble Towing in North Carolina
I thought it was. I contacted Steve Earwood of Rockingham fame and he referred to a person with the NC Motorsports Association. This might be an isolated problem, but it sounds like overaggressive police for the numerous violations. Driver had a CDL, privately licensed vehicle, and licensed in Louisiana. Maybe there was a problem with the webbing between the toes or something like that. We do live in the water you know. I would think we could get something done.

Re: Trouble Towing in North Carolina
I worry about towing a lot. I do most of mine in Texas. My rig is 65'7". Texas state law says 65' max. Havve not had any problems yet.
