9.90 '66 mustang cpe
We are planning a S/G build; 2600# '66 mustang 2dr cpe, Alston full tube chassis kit, Fbrgls front end and doors,
Looking for the best engine/trans/rear end ratio combo for this class. Need some advice, first time to put together one of these. |
Re: 9.90 '66 mustang cpe
I used VFN fiberglass for my 67 mustang. I would use a BBC 582 if you want MPH. Running a ford motor in SG is kind of useless $$, and I am die hard ford. Good luck.

Re: 9.90 '66 mustang cpe
Disagree about not using a Ford engine. Any one that knows me knows thats all I run, and am able to run well with my combination. I have a 2800lb Ford Ranger that is as areodynamic as a brick and have ran 9.90 at 163 with a big block ford 557. That same engine in my Thunderbird has been 8.90 at 173.5. I have a 532 short block that I would be willing to sell at a reasonable price if you have any interest. I run a power glide with 1.80 straight cut gears and a 4.29 gear in the rear end. Converter stalls at 5800

Depend on your timeframe.....Ford will have crate engines available in the near future...targeted at S/C and S/G.....check with Jesse Kershaw @ Ford Racing....
