66 Corvette in Stock Class
Looking for some good advice on where to get info on replacing the stock rearend and suspension in my 66 Vette and converting it to a 12 bolt solid rear end. I understand the width, from backing plate to backing plate, has to measure the same as stock, but need help in what all is involved in the conversion.
What does NHRA allow for the location/attachment of the rearend and will I need to do any cutting of the frame, such as for drive shaft clearance or anything else I haven't forseen yet. My plan is to race the car in AA/S, given it is an original big block car. Any other help is appreciated. Thanks. |

Nico,
Get in touch with Bob Pagano.(L-88 Bob@aol.com)(paganorobert@hotmail.com) He has done mucho research on the do's and dont's of the Vette build up. He can answer any question you have. He has some very good pictures that show how. He spent several years doing research when we were attempting to build a '69 L-88. He might even know where there is a project car for sale that is everything you need. |
Re: 66 Corvette in Stock Class
Another guy to talk to would be Steve Calabro, and also Craig Couris. They both run 69 Corvettes in AA, although those are both L-88 automatic cars. Both cars are nasty quick, and hook about as well as an Corvette you'll see in Stock, as far as really big HP cars go. Also, look up Alf Weibe, he does some nice stuff for the Corvette.
