Would a sbc dart block be legal in a Modified Stock class such as SS/AS, BS, and CS?

The way I read the rule book... NO Check with someone @ NHRA to make sure. It might be an area that has changed since the GM/auto industry downturn (read that availibilty of replacement or superceded parts) I have read where GM Pro Stock racers are trying to get non GM parts approved to be able to keep racing. I also am aware that there are no more V-6 Bowtie blocks, (heads too) and there is a movement by a couple of Comp racers to get Dart to build a replacement that is approved by NHRA.

On a slightly different note, whats the difference between modified (AM, BM) and modified stock (AS, BS)?

I'm pretty sure in AM, BM you can run two carbs instead of one in AS, and BS

Yes, on the carb diff. Modified Stock mandates 850 & 750 single carb, depending on class. I think the transmissions don't have to be a corp match either & the rear tire size rule is dropped. It states ANY size that fits the orginal outer wheel well. There is no limitation on hood scoop either. Any type rear spoiler in Modified instead of fatory type in Modified stock..The firewall can be modified a little in Modified. might be more

So, in modified stock the transmission has to be a corporate match? Does PRO TRANS use a GM case or a Chrysler case?

You can only run a 4 speed in AS,BS, CS. In Modifed, you may run a 5 speed. Of course that is highly discouraged since the antique lameass weight break is still in effect for automatics so you don't see much call for that these days.
