Can you Patch a hole in a slick?
Has anyone patched a hole in a racing slick and had it hold?
What did you use just a regular tire patch or ?? I see I must have picked up something in one of mine. thanks for the response. |
Re: Can you Patch a hole in a slick?
yes, you can use a regular passenger car tire "plug" [the rope looking, sticky type] it will be fine. I picked up a large screw one night going into the semi's - thought I was done for the night. The fellow parked next to me plugged and I won the race. Then put another 60 runs on that tire before replacing it.

If you can get the natural rubber plugs even better.
I keep them in my trailer. Have plugged slick before going to lanes for a run. Do a good burnout and you will have a hard time finding where the plug was. They become part part of the tire and won't leak in the future as a rope plug may. |

I don't think I have a tire without a plug. Front or back.
Plug it you will be fine. Chip |
