Hi Stephen, it's Bill from Ct. This has been a hot rumor since May; it appears that Z-max Dragway in N.C. will get a second National event in 2010, which means that an existing event will be dropped. There has been a lot of speculation that the Memphis event will be the one that will be dropped. When I went to Z-max for the inaugural National event last Sept., one of my first thoughts was that Bruton will get a 2nd National event in the foreseeable future; the place is simply spectacular for both the racers and the fans. Say hi to your Dad for me.

No, but they scheduled it for August, again.

Memphis should be either no later than early April, or no earlier than early October.

Scheduling Memphis between June and September makes for a hot, slow, miserable race, with poor performance and terrible attendance by racers and fans. It can be downright dangerous as well, the heat can be very hard on everyone, especially those who are not in the best of health and condition.

Scheduling Memphis in August just about guarantees that NHRA will have an excuse to get rid of Memphis completely. And that may be just what they have in mind.

Hey Stephen, it's Bill from Ct. The Richmond event at Virginia Motorsports Park has been dropped, and the Reading event at Maple Grove Raceway has been moved to the traditional Richmond dates in early October. Pennsylvania in early Oct. should be very fast; also the new event at Z-max is scheduled for March 25 - 28, that also should be fast. They also shortened the Atlanta event to 3 days (May 14 - 16).
