Sportsman's entry money

Doing a quick calculation of the entry fees taken in by NHRA for the U.S. National's, not counting gold cards and other possible freebees. They take in $213,440, ($57,600 SS/ $50,560 Stock/ $23,040 Comp/ $43,840 SC/ $38,400 SG) also not counting the Top alcohol cars. I received my ND yesterday with the payouts for the sportsman racers, it is plus plus for NHRA's (I wish I had a hand in their) pockets. I still would like to be going to the US Nats, but the NHRA has priced the race out of my reach money wise and also, the peformance level of my vehicle wouldn't cut it either.
Good Luck to all attend and make it a fun and safe race!

Remember the good old days at Indy? Class was worth about $800 or more to win.The manufactures would load you up with stuff. You didnt have to take out a second mortgage on your house to enter. It was the place to show off how fast you really are.Now alot of the fast guys are staying home so the HP doesnt get dinged!!!!

Take the alcohol classes out and the sportsmen have no problem paying for them selfs. They have the fewest entrys yet get a much larger payout.

Re: Sportsman's entry money

Looking at the purses for the different classes in ND, I noticed that Stock pays the same entry fee yet gets far less in return. When I go to my local tracks, if I'm in Sportsman, I pay one price and if I'm in S/Pro I pay another knowing that the payouts are different. What's up with Stock not getting a fair share? Same entry fee but not the same payout, why is this?
I also looked at Comp, Comp. used to be a 64 car field, now it's a 32 car field and they are paying 2nd round loser where as they used to pay 2nd round loser when it was 64 cars. Comp. and Stock are taking the beating on the purse side for sure!
