Mustang 4.6L ?

Having all but given up on the FWD stocker plans, I recently ran across a '96 Mustang GT for sale locally that's in good shape, and the price is right, car just has lots of miles.
Anyone have any insight as far as running a 4.6L modular motor with a stick in Stock Eliminator ?.
I'm pretty unfamiliar with this motor...

Why would you give up on a FWD car? Jim

I would shy away from that combination. The '96-98 heads and intake are poor, you can do much better with either a '88-93 5.0 or a '99-04 GT.

Check with the NMRA guys in their forum about mod motors. They probably know more about them than people on this forum since you never see one running in stock.

Seems like you have to use power adders of some sort in order for them to get out of their own way.

If you want to try the 2 valve 4.6 modular go with a 99 and newer model Mustang the heads make alot more power than the 96-98 versions. Div 3 does have one 2 valve mustang stocker in competition but it's a PI Headed combo.

Hey Evan how you doing,

I know your are the mustang expert. I'm new to modular engines too and I'm trying to build a 2003 mustang mach-1 engine for stock eliminator with stick, do you think that this will be a good combo for stock class? thanks in advance for your help....

Check out the qualifying @ Beech Bend Division 3 LODRS
54 3832 O/SA Dave Goins, Plymouth MI, '98 Mustang 12.577 13.45 -0.873
This is a good looking and good running car I belive this is the same combination you are looking at ,and the 99 & up cars are much faster I think they are a natural I/S
Hope this helps,
Kenny

Edgar,

That engine has a lot of potential. It's rated a little on the high side, but i think it will go ok.
