Bad track at Pomona
The left lane is garbage and nothing is being done about it. While sitting in the burnout box for 1st round I saw the racer in front of me go straight for the wall. The starting line crew brought their track prep mop out and brushed off the lane. I was motioned to the starting line where I lost a tenth in 60' costing me any shot at winning 1st round.
Second round, watching in the stands, Super Gas cars repeatedly got loose in the left lane culminating in a crash and nothing was done to the lane. Then came the 2nd round of super stock. One spins, the next crosses the center line, then another spins. Nothing is done to the lane. Ladies and Gentlemen if we say nothing and let this continue it will do just that continue. This is a national event where the track is supposed to be the BEST. Clearly it is NOT and nothing is being done about it!!!!!! |

What did NHRA say when you went to the tower to complain? |
Re: Bad track at Pomona
It comes down to $$ they dont want to spend, I have seen the NMCA doing the same, no prep, guys bitch no prep. Slip & Slide Nationals everywhere you go, mite as well stay home.

Re: Bad track at Pomona
Is it my imagination or does this seem to be the norm this year? Are they just not willing to spend the money for track prep? Is this another cost cutting idea from Glendora? Maybe if everyone shut their car off and refused to run until the track was prepped correctly. they can't throw everyone out! Just a thought. Jim

Re: Bad track at Pomona
Multiple complaints were made to the starter and the comment "we drug it and scraped it this morning" was made.

Re: Bad track at Pomona
5 post wow. If it was an IHRA race the keyboards would be smokin.
I'll bet they are using that summer time VHT. Chip |
Re: Bad track at Pomona
Byron,
As I've stated in the past on this forum, the same thing happened in Brainerd five years ago. I have not been to a National Event since, and didn't renew my NHRA Membership. They probably don't think they miss me, but my membership over the years could have bought them that barrel of traction compound they apparently need this weekend. Jerry |
Re: Bad track at Pomona
This is why I will run a slow automatic stocker if I ever start racing, lol.
Seriously though, sad to hear they're not making the lanes equally good. Makes up for some very unfair racing. |
Re: Bad track at Pomona
It's nothing new at Pomona. Repeated every year! They run Sportsman late when the track is too cold and the new traction compound (cannot think of it but JP something comes to mind) is not Sportsman friendly. Hopefully they did not hurt any cars.
Jim Wahl, shoot me an email, Lost your new one. BP |
Re: Bad track at Pomona
Byron,
I was the lucky guy in front of you. My car is powered by a 318 Dodge and runs GT/HA, so definately not a real powerful ride. And I was carrying an extra 75 lbs for a couple of reasons including trying to hook up on the line. It must have looked wild from your seat. It got my attention. Guess I need to add more weight for the Winters.... Wayne |
