Stocker Carpet
Does anyone have a source, or know of a brand of lightweight carpet for a stocker ?
Prefferably something thin, easy to cut and form and sew.....as well as something that isnt going to turn me into a charcoal bricquette if it gets toasty. Airplane carpet ? Boat Cartpet ? Astroturf ? Ideas anyone .... Thanks Chris |
Re: Stocker Carpet
I always used the stuff that came in the trunks of GM cars. Thin, easy to cut and form, very light. It doesn't look as nice as thicker stuff, but my car is a low dollar effort, and looks like it.

Re: Stocker Carpet
I used aircraft carpeting---you hold it up to the light and you can see thru it---very light weight stuff ---took it to an auto upholstery shop had them put edging on it and snaps so that we could access the trans tunnel to do clutch work and trans removal---was not that expensive and held up well--- you can vacuum it to clean the interior of the car---look into it!!!---Comp 387

RV carpet. Comes in all kinds of colors, is easy to work with, and is lightweight. A can of 3M carpet glue, a good stick or ball game on the radio and you're ready to go.......:D
If you're serious about the flameproof angle, check with any local aircraft completion center, as some aircraft FAR's require the use of flameproof materials. |
Re: Stocker Carpet
I got a real nice molded carpet from Auto Custom Carpets (ACC) in Georgia I think. I ordered mine done in the lightest carpet with no backing material. Fit like a glove, looks OEM, and took about 25 pounds off.
