Need Intake for 426 Street Wedge
Looking for an OE intake and carb for '64 Plymouth Fury with a 426 Street Wedge motor for Stock Eliminator. Anyone out there have one?

Jeff,
Are you looking for the 514 head? You can find the same head in 413's and 383's of the same era. I'm looking to build the same combination next year and bought a complete 413 and '65 trans with the 514's. I would be glad to exchange ideas or help as best I can. I live in FL and will visit Dvorak and see if he has any heads or you can contact him yourself at 352-468-1353. Good Luck. JimR |

Re: Need Intake for 426 Street Wedge
Jeff,
I talked to Al about this a few days ago. What casting number intake do you need? Also, I believe the heads that you need are 516, not 514. If so, I have a few pairs of castings that I would be willing to sell. Talk to you later, Jeff Day |

You're right on the heads, 516's. my fingers aren't that smart. Also I was told by the NHRA that any Mopar head could be used that had the same valve size and chamber spec's as the 516's could be used ie the 915 with same valve size. Would the intake and carb be the same as the 413's of '64 and '65? It's not that hard to still find the 413's in junk yards. JimR |
Re: Need Intake for 426 Street Wedge
NHRA lists the 915 and 516 heads as legal for the street wedge in stock.
D = 2406516,2780915, 4532287 SS only They don't list any intake casting numbers, but for the 383 they show some of the later 69-70 383 intakes as legal. Maybe you can use a 440 AVS intake and be legal? Didn't the early AFBs use a smaller bolt pattern? How would the early carb bolt up to a later intake? Maybe they allow for replacement AFBs like a 9626S or something? Sounds like an e-mail to your tech director may be in order. |
Re: Need Intake for 426 Street Wedge
I understand you can run the 915 heads if you use the 1.60 exhaust valve. These are way better than 516. To ID them in junkyard look on front machined area behind Alternator and if stamped HP they are 1.75 ..... if not stamped 1.60. If you can run 67-69 Intake for 440 (178) which I don't know.. It is also way better. I have several of each. Racer7411@yahoo.com

Re: Need Intake for 426 Street Wedge
I have a friend that has some tall block single four barrel manifolds and some carbs.
Can you give me the casting numbers and carb numbers that will work for you? Thanks, Bill Lamb |
