68 Chevelle?

I have a 68 chevelle ss clone that I have been restoring for yrs. Still needs alot of work Interior mainly. It currently has all original drivetrain . 6cyl and glide. I would like to ask you folks for some advice. If or when I decide to sell it-will I get more for it with the 6cyl or a rebuilt 350 ?

Since you are making it a clone SS Chevelle, you will probably get
more of a return on your investment with a 350 V8 than the straight 6.

I was watching B-J @ Vegas a few nights ago and there was a canadian
1967 Chevelle/Pontiac with a 283 and it only went to $25K and then a
1967 Chevelle 396/auto went for $38K.

Good luck on which ever direction you take this car.

If the 'original' drivetrain is intact, I would forget the SS clone and go for the original combo. If you're too far in one direction, for resale value, most potential buyers of a modified car will want a 350. If you do go the 'SS clone' route, with a 350, I would keep the original parts and include them with the purchase/sale as an option...could get the price up - depending on the buyer. If you haven't decided to sell, build like you want, but keep the original parts.....like money in the bank.

I don't think it would matter either way . You do know that a SS 68 chevelle came only with a big block anyway ,no small blocks in ss version in 68.

Re: 68 Chevelle?

Thanks for the imformation. No Danny I did not know that-I thought some had came with 327's too. I have a stock ss hood-all thats ss so far. It is original 6 cyl-glide - not a tire burner thats for sure. I had it painted then just put it under my car port. I don't have time to work on it much-But If I sold it I probably would never find another one. There is a car crusher about 12 miles from me and Idiots are crushing everything-old mustangs trucks etc. Makes it harder to find parts.

If it is a clean car and you like it, HANG ON TO IT!!! This stuff is getting harder to find.

6-cyl and 4-doors are not worth much. "There is a car crusher about 12 miles from me and Idiots are crushing everything-old mustangs trucks etc." This is called the clunker law, the government's way of making us spend $30,000 for a NEW car.

I got a 66 elcamino that the "clunker" law will not get. Just bought it about 5 months ago and drive it when i have a chance to. Still doing things to it as i go. Love that ole car.
